Right,
So I'm quite happy DIYing my juices and letting them cure / steep in a drawer, however I decided to get myself a simple rechargeable mod so that I can stick a dripper on the top and test my juices out without the hassle of refilling and cleaning tanks every 30 seconds.

I've decided I'm going to get the iJust 2 kit, (simple battery style and I get the added bonus of a spare tank to add to my collection.)
All of my mods up till now have been fully regulated, VV/VW etc type devices, if there was a short or other issue it would flash on the screen and simply not fire. How do devices like the iJust 2 work, do they just not fire?
I generally build my coils no lower than .25, will the iJust 2 be up to the task? What warning signs do devices like this one have to show that there may be an issue, is it just as simple as the mod not firing?
I've looked on the Eleaf website, and although it says that the mod has short circuit protection, low voltage protection and overcharge protection, how well protected realistically is the device likely to be?
In short, I just want to make sure I'm going to be safe using the damn thing! Also, when using a device like this, as the battery depletes does the quality of the vape decrease?
I'm not sure whether this is classed as a regulated or unregulated mod as I've heard conflicting information and could do with some clarification!

Apologies for the essay!

I can't imagine a .25Ohm coil would be bad on this, considering they have pre-builts that are .3Ohm. But I can't seem to find the cut-off point anywhere online. IMO, you're much better off getting a regulated box to use.

If you want a mod with a battery built in, take a look at the Mini Volt by COV. It's rated down to .1Ohm, and you can get them for around the same price as the ijust 2 kit.

I should note that I test my DIY flavors on a istick 50w (wish i had the mini volt though) and RH RDA. nothing fancy, but it gets the job done.

To be honest I was quite attracted to the idea of a tube mod, is there anything similar that IS regulated? I'm just assuming that the ijust 2 isn't though as like I said I'm getting conflicting answers to that and the eleaf website isn't helping me.
I have quite a few box mods now and just wanted to try something a bit different.
Cheers

Well, if the price point isn't of any concern, there's the lavatube DNA40 mod that goes for around £119.00, but I don't think that'll work too well for what you want.

Honestly though, there aren't many good regulated tube mods out there. Someone seriously needs to get on that, because I'd love a good tube mod.

The IJust 2 will fire down to .1. Anything below that and the indicator light will just flash without firing. I never had mine that low but I did use it at .2 on an rda

As far as it being regulated, it's not. It works like a mechanical. I will say that I never had an issue with it firing too hot on a higher ohm build though.

In that case, it probably wouldn't work too bad. It goes up to what, 80w?

Price point is always an issue unfortunately ;) to be honest I'd love a mechanical but I need to do a lot more research before I go down that route :)

That's interesting to know, so works similar to a mechanical but has some safeguards in place to stop it firing if the resistance is too low for example. Sounds like it could be just what I'm after then!
With regards to it firing as high as 80w does it fire that high when fully charged and then the wattage drops down as the battery discharges?

Here is my Ijust2 set up for quick tasting different juices it works pretty good.

I just pop top off and stick in a new small wad of cotton and new flavor is ready........

That's my understanding. The guy at my local shop explained it to me as a regulated unregulated mod. I know it has safety features that makes it safer than a bare mechanical.

You have more patience than me..haha. I use the Royal Hunter with a single clapton build (around 3mm or so) and just drip the juice directly onto the coils to test. No need to wick it if you have enough surface area. Just gotta keep the wattage down a bit

Your idea is good probably better than changing cotton if you can get a good taste......keeping the wattage/power setting turned down

is a good thing..........

Honestly, I get the best flavor without wicking (not just because i'm lazy :p). I'll mix up a 5ml bottle of something and drip it a few times. If it's good, i'll make a 30 or 120ml bottle of it.

Whatever works best 4 you-----somebody else was in a vapor store awhile back trying flavors with no wick and they were having

good luck with that method too----they had a mech mod with 4 big coils.......

That's great, exactly the same as what I'd be using it for :)
I like the fact it's quite small and can be kept stored with all my DIY stuff :)

Wow, thanks for this info as I'm going to a certain Vape Expo and there'll be too many flavors to sample to change the wicker.

I will have to try this myself as I am planning on attending the Syracuse,NY Vape Convention in June.......good idea.......no wick--to change
