Fiddled with my T3 heads and now I get very little vapor after a few hits.

Hey guys, I've been having an issue here. I was very happy with these when they came, and I figured I could try and tweak them a little to make them work better. I have flipped the plastic ring inside upside down, tried pulling the pin on the bottom up a little (actually it came out a few times, but it's supposed to be able to do that.) I've covered one of the airholes, and have pulled the pin on the battery (a manual X2) up a bit. Both pins seem to just push each other back into place once screwed together though. Problem is, now both of my heads give very little vapor after a few hits. I get gurgling, but it was like that when it came and didn't seem to mess with my vapor production. Also, I've had my battery charged/plugged in and the button light would blink three times after being pressed, but after that it would go back to solid and make vapor. I pulled the battery pin up and that stopped. I think it means a short is happening, because I had the battery on once while using scissors to pull the pin once and accidentally pressed the button and got the same three blinks while the metal was touching.

So what's wrong here? I thought all this fiddling was something these were made for?

There are several threads now dedicated to the issues of the T3. It was the latest and greatest gadget in our world, now it doesnt seem so great. Personally I put the 3 of my 6 opened in the pile-o-crap I've wasted money on and you just remindde me to put the other three unopened in the same pile. Garbage.

It is funny how everyone has different results with the same devices. I tried the Nano and, to me, it was crap but a lot of folks love them. The T3 has been great for me, no leaks, no dry hits, very little gurgling and very little liquid on the battery posts.

Wounded, you didn't mention what kind of liquid you're using. Is it a thick, heavy, dark one or a lighter, thinner one? I use only tobacco flavors and they are 60/40, not really thin but not very thick either. From what I've read about others using thick liquids reversing the seal on the air tube is supposed to help with thicker liquids but you already tried that without good results. Another trick I read was to remove the wick that sits on top of the coil, sometimes called the "flavor" wick, Since it's a short wick design thick liquids do seem to cause problems and the T3 needs to be "tweaked" to work properly with them.

Just my opinion, worth what you're paying for it. Your results and mileage may vary. No warranty or guarantee is expressed or implied.

I tweek my t3 heads by popping up the center pin and removing one of the 2 wicks laying across the coil/wick piece sitting down below the 2 wicks. It seems to wick much better for me. I typically use a 50/50 pg/vg combo and having the 1 less wick seems to help it wick better and provide more vapor.

hey awsum I did what you said in this post today....very hard with my fingers...took a lot to get the post out...I gave the wicks with the coil around it...a good clean with ...a needle tip bottle of the hottest water... I could bare...dried the 2 wicks with paper towels..let it sit for awhile to air dry....put it back together...I havnt tried it yet...im thinking next time ill leave one of the wicks out...that's if...this one works...:unsure:

Debra, it should work with no problem based on what you did. I usually don't bother letting them dry, other than a paper towel to dry the wicks a little. I do blow the tank out with canned air though. The first couple of drags are usually a little low in vapor, but then thy work fine. Another trick is to clean it and fill it immediately, then let it sit for a few hours. They work fine from the firs drag after that.

The wicking problem seems to be rooted in the constriction caused by the number of wicks and the silicon seal that gets pressed down when the head is screwed together. That seems to cause enough pressure on the wicks to compress them and inhibit their ability to "conduct" the thicker liquids. If that is true, removing one wick would provide a little more space and less constriction and allow better liquid "conduction".

Just my pinion, worth what you're paying for it. Your results and mileage may vary. No warranty or guarantee is expressed or implied.

It sounds like you’re getting too much liquid to the coil area. This causes the gurgling and lower vapor production. When you first started with them, they were already gurgling a little, and when you flipped the cup seal upside down it made the situation worse. I would try flipping the cup seal back over and then making sure the coil assembly is tightened up on the tank real good when you re-install it.

I’ve been using T3s exclusively since they came out about three and a half months ago. They’re the best juice delivery devices I’ve used. All of the coil assemblies I’ve had have worked pretty well with a few little tweaks. You just have to understand what each little tweak does, and not get impatient or too frustrated.

Be real careful making adjustments to the battery pin on the coil assembly. It holds the coil wires in place. It’s possible to short out the battery or completely disconnect one of the wires.

Good luck with your T3s and don’t give up yet.

Well, I just screwed one of my coils in, took a few hits and it was alright, then after a few minutes went to take some more and it was completely dead. Just air coming through it. It's not the battery as I switched back over to the other and it's working, although I'm getting some seriously wispy vapor.

Since I can’t actually see your T3, I can only make an educated guess about the problem. Sounds like the first coil isn’t making contact with the battery. This could be because the post on either the battery or the coil is pushed in too far, or one of the coil wires might not be making contact since you pulled out the coil battery post. The other coil may not be making good contact with the battery either.

You could try raising the post on the battery again. If that doesn’t work, I don’t know what to suggest other than getting a new coil and starting over. Believe it or not, they really do work pretty well.

Sorry I couldn’t be more help.:(
