Fight for Your Right to ‪#‎vape‬ - Daily Action Plan for Thursday, 07.24.14
___
On the off chance you missed it: CASAA has released the second Call to Prepare for making your substantive comment to the FDA - CASAA: Second Call to Prepare for FDA Proposed Regulations - Prepare/Refine Draft Comment
This is sure to be followed by the fourth FDA related Call to Action later today, so stay tuned,
___
In the meantime, let’s continue down the list of US Senators and urge them to investigate the FDA for their poor choices of supporting science in the deeming regulations.

Regarding the Call to action - its to comment on the FDA Deeming regulation. They "Deem" e-cigs to be a "tobacco product" and PRESTO they are! and get the same kinds of regulation that cigarettes do. So Thousands of hours of red-tape and lab tests and psychological studies like "is this more likely to result in dual use" or "likely to discourage cessation". Thousands of hours comes to hundreds of thousands of $ - so how many of your favorite juices or devices are profitable enough that their makers or importers will pay that much to keep them on the market?

They are also "deeming" pipe tobaccos and cigars, but proposing to exempt the "premium cigars" - the hand-made, limited run cigars that are perhaps most similar to our juice market. Though premium cigars are clearly tobacco - and juices are only tobacco by a stretch of the imagination. I dont think our govenrment regulators are authorized to imagine.

Right now there are over 50,000 comments - over 45,000 of them are form-letters from people who smoke cigars.

It doesn't show the comments from the last 5 days - but before that there were about 400 referencing e-cigs. About 100 of those are negative - "Eek! High School Kids can get them and then you don't know if they have nicotine in them or MJ or PCP!!!"

Theres some E-Cig form letter on there " 2012 youth tobacco survey" or such - a study with a 4% margin of error shows e-cig use amoung youth up by 1.3%. Garbage but .... close to outnumbering positive E-Cig comments.

Quite a few of the Pro- Ecig comments are ... poorly written.... Remember - if you're 50 and they helped you quit, then the public health agencies don't care. They would rather have you die off in 10 years instead of lingering for 20. So maybe say "I used cigs a long time" instead of "I used them 30 years".

They care more about 10,000 non-smoking high-schoolers using the devices than 300,000 old geezers that bought themselves a few years each by quitting smoke with e-cigs when nothing else had worked.

The E-Cig comments are generally more personal stories and thoughtful than the form-letter or 'Leave my cigars alone!" cigar comments - but a lot more would be good.

try going to twitter.com and logging in manually... if your account is blocked, you will get a notification. If not, try tweeting with that tab open and see what happens.
When I went to Twitter I was already logged in, and I am not seeing any notifications.
But I left the tab open and came back here and I was able to finish the tweets in this thread.

Don't know if that is what fixed the problem, but next time I get errors I will open the tab and see if the errors stop.

Thanks!
:)
