There are all kinds of cartomizer variations out there. It depends on where and when you buy them. For instance, some hard tips are not glued in. I remove them with a small pointed wood screw. I just twist it in with my fingers until it hangs, then pull it out.

Also, my KR8's hold more juice than my 510's. My 510's have an easier draw than my KR8's. My 510's produce more vapor on a KR8 battery because it supplies more voltage to it than an eGo. And on and on. I don't try for the absolute ultimate of anything and make do with mixing this and that with whatever. Gee ain't I lucky? All this stuff is better than an analog.

Im not sure what type of 510 cartomizers I have since the box just says SGS - they have glued hard caps -they are much longer than the 808D-1 and hold twice as much juice as the 808s.
The vapor production is about the same for both - however, the 808s get a bit warm, whereas the 510s do not.Unfortunately I gave my 510 to 808 adapter away in PIF, so I cant try the 510 cartomizer on my 808 xtra long........
( and my 510 charger mysteriously vanished :( ) - rats......probably at home somewhere with my other 808 bat............gotta get more organized!

I use the condom method for my 510 blanks and I am always flooding them and I am always careful to watch the top...I have no clue as to why this always happens? I started dripping through the mouthpiece and it literally takes forever but it doesn't flood. I'm going to try spinning! Thank you and thank you for the giggle:)

Goodness... Perhaps it's just that cartos really don't last that long? I went through four in just under three weeks. Is this normal? Does time fly when you're having fun?

Back to dripping on a regular 510 atty for the time being. Hmmm... how much were those 510 cartomizers again? Where's the best deals yo? They surely are convenient when I'm campin.

You could also try the soft cap cartos. I got mine from MadVapes, they are Boge (silver threads and two air holes), and I really really like them! Still use cart/atty/dripping for tasting new juices, but once I have a flavor I know I want to vape a lot, into a carto it goes. SO much neater and long-lasting. The soft white caps are a cinch to remove for filling.

I noticed the flavor is not quite as robust with all the filler in the carto - and it does take a little while to get it going right. But the one I've been using for Caramel Cream has been going strong for over 2 weeks now (I do rotate several flavors during the day).

I tried the condom filling method (CCFM) with Taryn spin but even using the flat-bottom condom, it was just too messy for me. I don't mind waiting for liquid to wick when topping off - depending on how dry the filler looks, I add maybe 6-10 drops and when it looks like a slushy, I do the wrist flick a few times, repeat until it doesn't dry out further with a few gentle flicks. Warning, it's possible to flick juice out the threaded end if you overfill - I'm lazy, putting the condoms back on for filling & spinning is a PIA for me.

I tried filling from the threaded end (slow), especially on first fill, but refilling is all from the top now. And I have gotten 40-45 drops into a new carto, but then there was leakage.

These cartos are life-changing! If you don't overfill them they don't leak, they draw easy and last a really long time. Even with my sweet flavors they don't seem to gunk up anywhere near as fast as atties... Only tradeoff is the slight flavor softening. On very delicate flavors they might taste too airy, but I've only committed 5 cartos so far, haven't tried any really light flavors in them yet. I mix DIY so I'll be experimenting with extra flavoring to overcome the filler taste softening factor.

Wonderful... Thanks for the suggestion..

Also, when you do spin, make sure you are more than far enough away from anything. LOL, I SMASHED a brand new, first time filled one on a marble counter. Aw geez, does that make you feel brainless.....

I was spinning one last night and it slipped out of my fingertips and flew across the room! Luckily, only two of my cats saw it happen and they can't tell anyone. ;)

I really like using the 510 cartos at work. Just have to whip it out and I'm set... no need to drip or get fluid all over my hands.

What brand do you recommend? I've tried Eastmall and E-planet. Wondering if there may be a brand that more people recommend.

The initial use is great. Good vapor and taste. The performance seems to get worse though. I tend to only refill them maybe 3 or four times. Is there a method of cleaning cartos that would extend their life? Any recommendations?

Thanks!

I love the 510 cartos and there are a few other brands out there! Note sure if I can post someones else link here so, head to the Suppliers Forum and you will find tons avail!

I don't know about cleaning them but I use mine about 3 times and then give them a toss! Good luck and if I find anything new, I 'll pass it along! :)

I soak my in a jar with just vodka. Usually about 6-8 hours. Rinse them in the sink with hot water, blow through them and let them sit to dry for a day or two. Has worked great. Have re-used them many, many times and are still good. I haven't tried boiling them yet. But the vodka takes the smell out of them too. (If you have a lot of them with different flavors you might have to change the vodka because it starts to smell like the juices.)

Hi!
I've just got a shipment of 510 hard-tip cartos from health cabin - slowish ship from china.

Anyway, I know all about the condom spin method, but I prefer to remove the cap and slide in an empty flat tip cartridge. That way I get the flat tip, I get the slightly cooler vapour and it is easy to drip to refill.

But I've only had soft tip cartos until now, and these hard ones look like they're glued in like a mother! I tried soaking the end in boiling water for 20 secs, but it won't budge! Anyone else had that experience? Any tips?
Tnx!

Hi maja - try a fork :)

Couple things I've noticed about cartos:

a) if I put the condom(s) back on at night so that they don't dry out, they last longer.

b) a paper clip gently inserted through the threaded end can re-align filling and innards when the draw gets really tight

c) over-filling bad. I blow out from mouth end and wipe.

d) boiling didn't improve performance for me any, just cleaned out (most) of the flavor
