i have a couple of gennies, and each time i try to fill them, all that happens is about 1/4 of the liquid goes into the tank, and 3/4 of the liquid ends up going through th wick and onto the deck. i am guessing that i can rewick and leave a small gap in the wick hole to allow for air to go through instead of juice, but i have them wicked to the point of no tilting, and hitting absolutely perfectly for me....

i am using a needle tip bottle that leaves a miniscule gap in the fill hole as well...

any advice?

the to gennies that i am currently using right now are the Diablo V1 Hybrid, and a Sat22, both having the same issues

Haha I have the same issue if I use them straw wicks. Was wondering how people did it. I try to avoid using syringes to fill as I can't be bothered cleaning flavors out of them. I only use them to drain tanks.

When I get around to it, my next wick experiment will be with cutting the mesh like an L - to plug off the top of it, yet try to retain the lesser heatsinking of a straw wick.

I've never run in to that issue before, though that being said maybe try a leur lock syringe with a needle that's a smaller gauge (and longer) than the one on your needle tip bottle? Maybe try filling more slowly? Sounds like it has to be a pressure issue, unless your wicks are just that good ;) in which case there may not be much you can do haha I have a Sat22 as well and have always had good luck filling with a syringe.

I have run in to issues in the past trying to fill certain gennies (DID in particular) with the needle tip bottle I have. Instead of coming up through the wick it tends to come back out the fill hole. I think it's because the needle wasn't making it all the way in to the tank and so the surface tension in the fill hole was causing it plug itself.

What mix PG/VG liquid are you using?

for me i have been doing a little experiment as soon as i posted this, the slower i go, the less goes in, and i have found that i can squeeze the bottle very hard very quickly, allow the juice to collect on the deck, and it will suck itself down while the bottle is sucking the air back into it....

and the vg/pg ratio is no higher than a 60/40 blend...

ad i have no idea what kind of wick mine would be classified as.... i just kinda roll them up and go, but i use only 400 mesh on my wicks

That seems really strange... I wonder why the pressure is pushing liquid out of the wick hole rather than the air. You aren't filling it upside down or something are you? :)

Does the needle tip reach to the bottom of the tank on the Sat22? I have the best luck when I fill with the needle basically touching the bottom of the tank.

May be worth either finding a needle tip bottle with a longer tip or picking up a leur lock syringe and a couple of needles to give that a try.

I find them to come in handy for a bunch of different things and are pretty cheap to pick up. For gennies with smaller wick holes (like the sat22, nahualon, prometheus etc) I find that using a needle to wrap my coil around works really well and their of a really nice length to work with so that leaving the coil on the needle while mounting doesn't get too awkward.

On the Kraken I'm in dual mode using steel rope (with cotton tops) through micro coils which requires almost no tilting of the mod, effectively pressurizing the tank if my fill whole is also blocked when filling. Squeezing the bottle fast, not slow, kinda worked as you say but could result in the 'Niagara falls' effect if not careful:eek:

I've been playing around using the syringe method which works fine once the needle tip is covered by juice, no regurg..but hate the bother.
Removing 1 or both wicks also works fine but that isn't really an option if you're using coiled mesh.

I have a Kracken ad a Persius and have had the same issue with both. I use cotton wicks and build my coils as close to the exact size of the wick hole as possible, but just a little bigger. (I use a q-tip stick for the Kracken and a 3mm jig for the Persius.) Best solution I have found is a blunt needle tip bottle and dry wicks. If my wicks are wet when I start filling, I always end up with a ton of juice coming up through them. If they are dry and I can fill the tank before they can wick up fully, I don't have a problem. You may get a dry-ish hit or 2 trying to empty the tank completely before you refill, but it's a lot better than wasting half a bottle of fluid trying to fill you tank.
