I see all of these methods for filling new cartos.. is it wrong to just drip in in the top? I did this and it seems fine. Drip drip drip, wait.. drip drip drip.. wait.. until it pools on top and won't absorb any more. Then drip every 10 or 15 puffs...

Why the contom method, fancy spins, syringes? What's the deal? Will I mess anything up doing it manually?

Dripping and waiting is just fine. The other methods are mostly for speed. Before clearos and tanks and whatever other fancy gadgets you can think of came along, people either used an atty to drip, and atty/cartridege combo, or just plain cartos. Some folks would fill a week or so worth of cartos at a time so they wouldn't have to mess with it very often. A lot of the methods you might read about have a lot to do with wanting to fill a bunch of cartos quickly and efficiently.

I have been drip-filling ever since I started vaping. The condom method just seemed like a waste of juice plus added cleanup. However, I did get those first dry hits until I figured out that those could be avoided by taking the basic principle of the condom method i.e. getting the wick saturated immediately. The first 3 drops that go in a new carto don't go in the top, but rather, I carefully drip them into the battery end and let the wick just soak it up. Keep the carto upside down for a minute, then suck on the other end to make sure that there is no excess, and then just drip into the top until the carto is full. I have had zero dry hits since I started doing this.

If you are completely impatient, you can also use the 'cup and suck' method (keep your filthy minds out of the gutter please <g>). Insert the cart using a slap-yo-mama tool, fill with juice. Then cup the 510 end with your palm, cutting off the airflow. Then draw sharply and quickly through the driptip. No more than 1 second each draw. I usually repeat this until I get a drop of juice in my palm. You should see bubbles in the tank. When you get a small amount of juice in your palm, set the tank on its' side for a minute. Pull the driptip and see if the carto top is wet. If not, repeat until it is. Let it sit on its' side for another minute and draw through the driptip to be sure there isn't juice in the center channel. Total time is typically less than 3 minutes and has always worked for me. YMMV. Good luck and have fun!
