Final Analog Question

Nermal, funny you should mention that. before I posted the original message, I included have some sort of ritual with the last one. Then I thought about it and this is the one that I always dread the most and think "I'll never smoke again" which causes me to panic a little and eventually I cave and buy another pack.

I had one more that was left in an open pack and it was to be my last one, just so that I knew I had smoked one more while I "could". It tasted so yuck I snuffed it after two puffs, and that was it for me. Which I still find amazing.

The first time I quit, it was on accident. I had no intention to quit and I need to stop at the store for cigarettes and I just decided not to stop. This time, I made up my mind that I was going to quit again and smoked the remaining cigarettes in the pack (like 7 of them when I had only had 1 for the previous few days) to get rid of them.

IMO, out of sight/out of mind is the best way to go. I don't vape tobacco flavors because I don't want the reminder. In all honesty, it is probably just the "attachment" to the cigarettes that you have, not the inability to stop the one smoke a day.

However, there isn't a right or wrong way to do this. Just pick one and stick with it FOR YOU! Your biggest obstacle will be yourself.

Put the rest of them in a zip lock bag, throw them in the freezer, and you'll one day come across them and go WTH was I thinking... But you'll rest easier knowing you have a few as spares if you decide you have to have an analog.... and if you have to have an analog, don't beat yourself up about it... No biggie, you'll get there eventually. I have faith in you! :)

I really like the flavorings and not having the side affects of smoking. I can see having a small tank of higher nic level for the first thing in the morning. After breakfast just put a different head on for the rest of the day.

I know I needed a purpose/reason about switching from analog to e-juice. And I did start at a higher nic level. Remember, its okay to think just about today. I really like the ability to smell, taste and not smelling. Its amazing how smokers pop that Altoids and think no one can smell them a mile away.

I tossed my last 5 packs of cigs after a couple of days. I don't need to tempt myself.

I am committed and see the good reasons not to smoke today.

I posted something similar in another thread. What you do with those last remaining smokes is up to you and what will work best for you. Most say toss them and be done with them. Logically, that sounds like the right thing to do. However, that wouldn't work for me as I would obsess over wanting a cigarette. I want something more when I don't have it, so getting a cigarette would consume my every thought if I didn't have one. I keep a pack with me, carried in my backpack at all times, so I know if I want one I can light up. I choose not to, it's not a big temptation to me. I read where someone else did the same thing as me, has a pack of unopened cigarettes they kept. They wrote their quit date on the pack - I liked that idea a lot. I honestly don't think a person can do it if they're already obsessing over how many they have left to smoke. If you feel you can't just give up that last cigarette or two a day, continue doing that until you are ready. From what I've read from others, the time will come when it will just happen. If you do this, the advice I've read over and over again on this site, is instead of focusing on how many you are smoking, direct your attention on how many you aren't smoking.

Don't consider it quitting, consider it switching. You're switching cigarettes for an APV. Good luck with whichever option you choose, it can be done!

You know sometimes you just gotta break it off and go on with life. I understand fully. The wife and I are down to one or two a day each. i knew we had about 5 or 6 cigs left. We were running errands and I just didn't bother to buy any. After we got home my wife mentioned it to me, and then said aw hell why bother buying more we don't really need them I guess. Don't know if the last ones will get smoked or not, I think we're both ready so time will tell. If I say that's it and make a final statement of it I feel like I might fail as I have so many other times when trying to quit so I'm just leaving it open and letting it happen.

I was one of those accidental quitters... bought my first ego/clear kit out of curiosity & thinking to save a few dollars.

For me, it was a matter of letting my subconscious set the rate of switch-over - until I had had just 1/2 a .... one day.

I mentioned to one my barbershop quartet guys (baritone in case you're wondering), and he said 'why bother'...

I was done... I think that 1/2 was 'just because'.

I have 20-30 t-burners around here somewhere... maybe out in the garage / wood workshop.

You'll know when the time is right for you

But for what it's worth, I like bagd432's approach!

Part of what has helped me is mindset. Don't think of stopping cigs as depriving yourself of something. You are getting your nic through vaping, so all youre missing out on is burning plant matter, a few other tobacco alkaloids, tar, and many other chemicals.
I know the prevailing advice is to get lower nic, but if you're like me, and used to plow through a cig on a break at work, the 24mg can stave off the cravings.

I agree with everyone who says to just end your analog use now, since you're down to only one per day anyway. The advantages of cutting out just that last one each day are that you'll be able to finally get rid of all cigarette odors from your home and clothing (even if you only light up outside, your clothes can still capture some of the smoke particulates), and that you'll once-and-for-all be able to truly call yourself a non-smoker.

I assume that if you've gone from full time smoker to (almost) full time vaper that you have a vaping kit & e-liquid flavor you really like, and that satisfies your nicotine cravings as well. So how about this - if you've made a ritual out of the daily analog, how about changing that ritual from using an analog to vaping an alternate e-liquid flavor than the one you usually use. This is, of course, assuming that you have more than one flavor you like.

I quit smoking entirely the day my Halo G6 kit arrived. I have a pack-and-a-half of Salem Lights in my nightstand, which I'll finally throw out one day. I was curious after several hours of vaping my Halo flavors on that first day, so I lit up an analog. And YUK! It was the most vile thing I've ever tasted, even after only 8 hours or so since I put them down. So as of that moment, I've never gone back.

I have my daily vape juice mix, plus another that I only use every now and then, when the craving hits me. Do you think you could do something similar?

I'm sure everyone's olfactory system works differently. Some folks may be tempted by the presence of a pack of analogs lying around if the odor of cigarette smoke hasn't come to offend them very much after switching to vaping. But when I open the drawer and look at the analog packs lying there, my nose cringes. Trying an analog just after starting to vape was so repulsive to me that I'm quite certain I'll never again be tempted by analogs, even if I were to see them in front of me every day.

My only regret about leaving cigarettes behind is that I had just recently bought a really cool Zippo lighter - brushed chrome with the symbol of a power switch on it (a circle with a line through the top). Oh well - even if I never smoke again, the means of conveniently creating fire is still a nice tool to have around.

Hmmm... I'd say do what you think is best for you. Putting down any amount of cigarettes is hard, but you'll manage. I still have quite a few packs left. I just don't smoke them. Here they sit just collecting dust. Because I'm a vaper now, adding anything else into the mix is bad. Just plain bad. I'm somewhat like you. I was killing them off at about a rate of 50-55 analogs a day. To come to a complete halt like I did was rough. But the immediate improvements were quickly known and accepted. First thing I noticed - no more muted smells or tastes. Everything smells differently now. Taste has improved substantially. As far as morning chest tightness - I still feel it, but not as bad as I did. And the smell and taste was within the first 24 hours. The tightness in the chest about 2-3 days. And not to mention, the energy I got now. Now I'm fresh to not smoking, same as a lot of us, we had to start somewhere. But you do what works best for you - my suggestion is to put the analogs down entirely, vape exclusively for a day or two, then try to smoke. I'll tell you what, you'll look at yourself and say "... did I just inhale! It tastes like !@#$ and smells just as bad!" Trust me, you'll know exactly what I mean when it hits you.
