Thank you so much for sharing Captain and I hope you find this as fun as I do after 1 month! I agree that PV's really help to extinguish that sense of emergency, where you are clawing the walls while waiting for your next smoke. Or running to the store at 11pm in your jammies for a pack of overpriced analogs because you can't wait until morning. Even as a light smoker I've been there. Plus now I can visit my parents and vape in the bathroom rather than taking so many "walks" and fishing for perfume in my car :D

Congrats!!

Alexi5, Pokerchix, v241431, and Boodle- Thanks for the kind words, and congrats to all you guys too!

LadyLynx- Yes, after twenty years of feeling like my life has been run by tobacco cigs, vaping feels so awesome. Even in the morning when I wake up I can get a couple things done before I absolutely feel the need to vape. In my tobacco days there was no option- if I couldn't wake up and smoke immediately I was Very grouchy till I did.

X-smok3- I've been down that road before as well. When attempting to quit smoking in the past just one tobacco cig was enough to do me in. I could never do just one, no matter what I promised to myself, well until I started vaping that is.

izabella- Yes, it feels like a miracle to me, particularly the first few days when I felt no cravings for tobacco cigs at all. Seriously, I've been smoking pretty much my entire adult life, I was so used to the constant cravings, absolutely amazing how vaping has changed my life.

Thanks for the kind words Mindfield. I've been off of analogs for about 2 and a half weeks now. The first day I was off of them I was not craving a cig, but wanted to truly "test" myself by having a cig. In my mind the vaping was going so well I might as well take the ultimate test to see if I was still "missing" anything with a tobacco cig. I smoked half of it, and I just didn't get anything off of it. The nic hit didn't seem potent enough (I was vaping 36 mg hard that first day) and I couldn't even taste it's flavor, while my vaping gave me intense flavor. That's when I knew "holy cow I think I can do this!".

About 3 or 4 days in my nose started coming back and I started to find tobacco smoke repulsive, which is coming in handy right now. If I should ever be overcome by some incredible urge to smoke I hope tobacco still repulses me to help keep me from ever trying one again.

On a different note- when I was using nicotine gum I chewed the maximum strength stuff. When I chewed it too much (and started getting nic poisoning) I would first get hiccups, then want to vomit. My first two days vaping I only used 36 mg liquid, expecting that if I was getting too much nic I would have the same symptoms. In my case when I vape too much nic I start getting a faster heartbeat then the onset of a headache, both very mild and both give me plenty of warning to stop vaping for a while. Now I do 36 mg in the morning and after meals, and 24 the rest of the day and feel great.

It's a nice story. I recently read a story about John Cougar Melencamp.. ( or for those of us from my era, just John Cougar.. ) btw.. I was born in 66... where he smoked 2 packs a day.. and we all know he looked basicly healthy, lean and muscular, but suffered a heart attack... which he blamed on the smokes..

I don't want to end up like that, and good for you for finding a way out. I hope to find my way out also of this lame addiction.
good for you.

Yeah, I tried the gum, too, and the inhaler. Neither of them did a single thing for me. I started on 18mg liquid and at the time it seemed okay, but I was vaping a lot and taking huge mouthfuls of vapour, too. Once I switched to 24mg though I hit my sweet spot. I don't vape as much and don't have to take such big mouthfuls to get a good throat hit, so that's what I vape all the time. I tried 36mg a few weeks ago. After filling I made the mistake of taking a big mouthful like I do with the 24mg stuff. No exaggeration, it was like getting punched in the head by a furious monkey. It literally whited out my vision for a moment it hit me so hard. Even after that, taking smaller drags, it was just too harsh for me. So I mixed it down with some weaker liquid and it was all good again.

HAHAHHAHA furious monkey! I am going to snicker about that all night. I can't even use the 24mg, can't imagine!! I'd probably throw up.

Rayban- I feel lucky to have finally found a good solution, sounds like you are still doing some smokes here and there? My buddy that has been smoke free for 5 months now, well it took him a year and a half of trying different products before he was able to completely quit tobacco. Maybe you just haven't found the right combo yet?

Mindfield- Weird how much different everyone is. The gum could totally kick my rear, but I can vape 36 mg really hard for hours.

KeysBum- Thanks for the kind words, and like you elude to, the next few years should be extremely interesting in the vape world. I can't wait to see the upcoming innovations in product designs, and I hope the government keeps their hands out of it (yes, I'm a very wishful thinker! LOL).

To be fair, the gum was a free sample (full pack) from Nicorette from some promo they were doing. We actually got two packs (my wife requested one, too). It was the 2mg stuff, so very light, which is probably why it didn't do anything for me. I'd have to have stuffed my face like some kid eating his first giant jawbreaker for it to have had any chance of kicking my rear. The stronger stuff would probably have worked better, at least with regards to the actual nicotine craving, but it still wouldn't have been any substitute for the actual act of smoking, which I was addicted to as much or more.

Thanks for the welcome Wendallb, december, Olef, Nicko, washvap, and Jonny, mucho appreciated!

When I got my second e-cig a couple weeks ago I honestly didn't have it in my mind I was going to quit tobacco as I thought that was impossible for me. But... a couple hours into it, because vaping was so much different than nic gum or trying to go cold turkey, I suddenly realized I had a good shot at it. Now I am only a couple weeks in, but I just can not see a circumstance where I would ever go back to tobacco. I'm so confident that I've declaring myself a non-smoker already, something that I would never have done (even years in) if I could have stopped on gum. Every moment while trying to quit before was spent on how much I missed cigarettes, but that is not the case while vaping, all I can think about is how dern glad I am to no longer smoke!

The strangest thing happened two days ago... I had to hop in my car and run to the quickie mart and pick up a gallon of milk for my son. After I got home with the milk I realized not only had I not vaped during my little excursion, but I had also forgotten to even take my e-cig with me! Back in my smoking days I would have NEVER have forgotten my smokes, and while the trip to the gas station and back is under 10 minutes, I would have smoked at least 2 cigs. I never went anywhere in my car without lighting up as soon as I got in, and right before I got out. So while I like vaping, it doesn't rule my every move like tobacco cigs used to, what a great feeling.

No problem and honestly felt the same way about quitting when I began. I'm only 30 but I've been smoking for 20 years and so my addiction was pretty darn strong. I honestly thought it was a miracle that I didn't want cigarettes anymore. And yeah, it's amazing how much less you urge for nicotine while you are vaping. It doesn't have the whatever thousand of chemicals that adds to the addiction.

I'm happy that your enjoying how great vaping really is. When you get to your 15th post. Check out the rest of the forum since theirs a lot of good information and people.

I was like your buddy. I tried 4 different e-cigs and either returned them or tossed them. I finally did some research and read a lot of referrals and decided on 808 e-cig and a menthol juice from ESmokes that is similar in taste to the Misty's I was smoking. I've been a non-smoker for almost 5 months now and have no desire to ever smoke again. I feel so much better, sleeping better and food taste great again.
