Coil size plays a factor too. "Microcoils" might be great for Kayfuns, but you're better off with a larger ID coil, especially if you intend to run higher wattage to it. 2.5mm works fantastic. Larger coil = larger wick, and there's plenty of room in the Lemo for a large wick. Dry hits from a coil this size has probably more to do with technique, and is an issue of practice in getting the wicking density correct and not over stuffing the wells. I can actually cover the liquid channels with cotton and have no issues vaping 70% VG using the tried and true "Bunny Ear Method" at 30+ Watts.

Spaced coil or contact coil is a matter of preference. I prefer the performance of a contact coil, but for gunky juices, a spaced coil will last longer between re-wickings.

This video was made for building a kayfun, but the same wicking method applies here. His technique for folding the wick in into the wells works amazing. Simple, but it just works.

I just rebuilt both of my Lemos a few days ago and I didn't take any pics of course. I did stumble upon a pic of a build that is very similar. The wicks on this build are longer than what I use, I have it so the ends are right around where the juice channels are; besides that it's the same. Another cool aspect to this set up is you can fit a longer coil in there (like a parallel coil, which I will be trying next) and it won't hang over the deck like it would if you lined up straight. You also end up with shorter, tighter leads which means less of chance of get hot legs. BTW, I use rayon as my wicking material, but I've done with cotton before and it worked just as well.

Thanks for the pics.. Now I see what your talking about. I'll give it a shot on my next build.

Tried this pancake wick on my lemo and it didn't work
My coil was less diameter than his but tried all different lengths. After it uses up what juice is already on the wick it gets dry.
Gone back to just cotton snug in the coil touching the deck away from the juice holes.
Using around 67% Vg

Interesting. I build my Lemos and my Kayfuns exactly the same way and they perform flawlessly. 2.5mm coil. Cotton resting right on the deck where the juice channels are. I wet the cotton and press the tails against the deck. Put on the chimney base and then pull the cotton back up and fan it out against the walls of the chimney base. Then I push them back down against the deck using a toothpick. I look to make sure I see a little light coming in from the juice channels.

Its inasane that i dnt get leaks woth the amount of rayon i use... Basically pancake method with a 3mmlong x 2mm hign very thin piece of rayon glued to the inside of the juice well thingy... Theres atleast 1-2mm inbetween my wick and the bottom chimney section.... A picture would b alotttt easier to show lolll...
I wouldnt insist on it if it wasnt alotttttt better for high vg juices... I mean i get real deal rda flavor, mainly bc my wicks are exremely saturated

Took some pics to some it up
Ok so basically just pancake it, add the tiny piece of rayon to push juice upward towards the coil and at the end i will unflatted the veryyy top of the wick justttt to close off the upper most part so it wont leak at alll

After having relatively good experiences with cramming cotton through a ~2.5mm 28ga coil and tucking it into the juice well, I am now attempting a method somewhat similar to the pancake technique. I would occasionally get dry/burnt hits when vaping frequently and/or in cold weather using the aforementioned method. My new technique is to wrap with 26ga at 3mm ID and trim the wick so that even when wet it will not reach the juice well. It is different from the pancake in that I still tuck it against the inner walls of the build chamber. So far, I have found it produces far fewer dry/burnt hits...even when using 70-80 VG outdoors in the cold. I am very pleasantly surprised and am confidently vaping at higher wattages now than I was before. It hasn't been flawless, but I do believe I am getting better performance in my Lemo/Drop with shorter wicks. Currently testing out the same wicking method with a 2.5mm ID, so far same results.
