What a royal pain in the backside the Protank has been to me. Constantly flooding, and this is with stock, unmodified heads. Then there is the metallic taste, muted flavour and generally being a mediocre vape.

I fixed the problem! I thoroughly cleaned both of my Protanks and gave them to a friend, and opened my vapemail this morning. Postie brought me my shiny new Youde/UD AGR+ cartotank, some Boge cartidges and a carto punch.

This resulted in so much flavour I thought my taste buds were gonna explode, and I completely disappeared in a great big plume. The AGR+ gives a fabulous vape, so good I couldn't believe it for the price I paid for the tank, which was peanuts really.

I prefer the UD AGI for vape quality, the draw on the AGR+ is too tight for me (but I fixed this with an airflow controller).

The AGR+ has flooded on me a couple of times. I might just punch one hole instead of 2 next time.

I'm loving this quest though, for the perfect vape. UD make nice delivery systems, I've come to realise :)

My PT2 is sitting in my vape box, collecting dust. I've had SO many problems with it, and have yet to get a decent vape out of it. Not sure if the base i got is defective or what, but I just can't get my PT2 to vape right.

I'm having NO problems with my evods, IBtanked carto tank, triple V carto tank, or iclear30.

I have been using bottom coils, including the PT2, for a while now. Moding them slightly when rebuilding the stock heads improves everything by an order of magnitude. The bottom coils have been a life saver for someone who travels and moves around a lot. Just load them up with juice and go. If you pop a coil, you can swap one out in well under a minute with no mess or tools.

On the other hand, I saw a nifty carto tank at Fasttech

https://www.fasttech.com/p/1336002

and had a bunch of Boge cartos laying around. These were unslotted/unpunched. I tried the needle valve, but that bombed in a hurry; so I slotted them with my Dremel tool. The results were OK for a while, but the slots cut up the O rings pretty badly. Leaks were common, and got a lot of gurgling after a tank or two.

So I gave up on carto tanks and got into the RBA's, but there was the pile of unused cartos collecting dust.

Then I saw this on another forum:

Supco BPV31 Bullet Piercing Valve - Amazon.com

So I figured for under $10 shipped it might be possible to rescue my unused cartos.

The tank from FT works like a charm and is easy to fill with a needle bottle. The fill hole does not abuse the o rings and avoids the mess of sliding cartos up and down to fill. The set screw on the side keeps things from moving around. So far no leaks or gurgling with my standard 70/30 PG/VG DIY stuff.

I have only had the tank about 3 months and only swapped out two cartos. This thing only stays at home, so it does not take a lot of abuse. It gets vaped only part time, so I cannot give you any feedback on how it will stand up. But even part time, my cartos seem to last longer. The carto performance seems to be linear. They seem to work until they die. With other tanks and slotted cartos, performance dropped continuously with vaping.

The Supco valve is pure genius. It prevents deformation of the carto and is dirt cheap. One hole for my juices seems to be all I need for my juices and has solved all of my leaking and gurgling problems. Thanks to the ECF member who pointed this out.

Will I travel with carto tanks? No. Just too risky and potentially messy for someone who moves around a lot. Will I continue to use them? Yes with this new carto tank/punch combination.

Again, my history with this combo is fairly limited, but so far, so good.
