Finally got a Stingray X - Happy!

I've gone through quite a few mech's over the years... Never really used them much because I never had a good RDA to use them with. I tried using them with my kayfun Lite+, but always strapped it back on my ProVari after a day or two to get a consistent vape throughout the day...


A couple weeks ago I decided I would try my hand at some of this sub-ohm stuff... After selling my Poldiac and Chi-Chi clone years ago, the only mech I had left was a Smoktech Magneto and an Igo-W dripper. That RDA is dookie (IMO) way too tight a draw... And I don't feel like drilling it out.


So I got me a doge V2 at a local shop and built a dual coil .18 Ohm build on it and HOLY COW what a difference!


Anyway, that setup was a bit too hot so now I run a .3 Ohm build and it's just right...


I liked it so much I decided it was time to get another premium mech mod... Decided to pick up a Stingray X Black. I went ahead and dropped the coin for the Authentic. Glad I did! This thing is fantastic! Serial is 0990 and my understanding is JD is only making 1000, so this is pretty close to the end of the line for the Stingray X Black... A shame really...

Today I went hunting for something that felt a bit less like a cigar in my mouth and found an unbelievably well done clone of the Dark Horse.


I'm about as happy as I've been since I started vaping years ago.

This Stingray X is sexy, and combined with the Dark Horse I am getting dense vapor and surprisingly good flavor (Some folks have said the Dark Horse didn't have very good flavor??)

Anyway, sorry for the wall of text... Just happy as I can be with this Stingray though, it is just sexy!

I loved my StingrayX (SS version). It's a very good hitting mod. I ended up giving it to my son to help im along his journey. He had a couple other mechs that I gave him as well but loves the SRX the best.

Where did you get the authentic Stingray X from my friend? I love the Stingray X, I got one but its a clone. Its def one of my top five favorite mechanical devices I own. Funny, cause I ALWAYS take my SMPL out and right now I am at this little cafe I go to (my friend who vapes owns it so its cloud friendly lol) and for some reason I brought the X with me AND my Dark Horse lol, then I stumbled across this post, funny little coincidence. I really like the combo to and I find if you put a good build in the DH and close the air flow down it gets good flavor but running it open any amount past what I run it at the flavor mutes something horrible. The DH isn't an atty that gets used a ton by me but its always on my X cause I really like the looks of the pair. I run a twisted single 26 gauge .5 ohm coil on it and she chucks good vapor like that. One time me and my buddy (owner of the cafe) were tinkering with our drippers at his cafe and I got a 26650 mech with the Sony cells that day so I put a 0.08 ohm dual 22 gauge coil in it and I had all the AFC holes open. I, to this day, have never seen clouds like that. Not in videos or person, this thing was CRAZY. I have run 0.1 builds with 22 gauge at 100w before on a Sig and it didnt even come close to what my 26650 SMPL clone was doing with that DH clone.

I love my Stingrays , I have an authentic black copper and an Hcigar Stingray X clone . I usually carry both on me . My Stingray X clone is pretty much paired with a Rose V2 in all stainless running in hybrid mode and I normally have an Aqua V2 on my authentic Stingray . I'm supposed to be getting my hands on an authentic Stingray X Ti , can't wait !

Of the three US Vendors listed as authorized JD Tech resellers, Smokeless Success looks like the only one with any Black X's left. Vaperoo looks like they have the X Ti. I don't see anything on Vaperev. So if they're still out there, it must be getting close to the end of the line for the X... I'm sure whatever the next Stingray is will still be pretty sweet...

JD Tech Stingray X Black with Dark Horse Clone RDA in hybrid mode

Build Deck of the Dark Horse clone - .24 AWG Nichrome, 7 wraps per coil, .3 Ohm build.

Top of the Dark Horse clone showing the press fit delrin 510 adapter. Came with the black and white delrin 510 adapters and chuff style tips. All press fit like the original as opposed to the screw in types I have seen on most of the clones out there.

The AFC holes on the Dark Horse clone... Small, Medium, and large, just like the original, as opposed to them all being the same size like they are on some clones. They did a bang up job on this one. I would take a picture of the 510 pin on this clone, but that would probably make a lot of people mad... Haha, they got everything right, all the way down to the Steam Angel logo...
