Greetings!
I'm sure, as most here, started w/eGo.
Got serious 3 months ago when I finally stopped smoking cowboy killers.
First real vape setup was iClear 30 tank on a 18650 telescope.
Ditched the iClear for a Kangar Protank and added a Nimbus to the mix. Started building coils, even rebuilding nano/micros on Kangar)
Spent the past few months buying a ton of used gear, figuring out what works best for me.
Funny thing is, when I was going into vape shop just to buy juice, seeing the Kanthal wire, thinking "I'll never have use for that"...

Welcome aboard James! Vaping has been quite the journey for me. I dabbled years ago with cigalikes. Never really got serious until I got an eGo-type battery and tank setup. Now I have more stuff than I can imagine - I rebuild my heads for my protank2s and kayfun clones. Started making my own juice a few months ago...

It's AWESOME :) Glad to have you here!

Welcome :)

HA! I remember the days of going to the vape shop and looking at all the rebuildable stuff. Thought the same thing. Then I fell into the rabbit hole of dripping!

Yep, the rabbit hole can run deep....

Never thought I'd be dropping big coin on good gear, but in an effort to end frustration with substandard gear, we do what we must.

Welcome James. Yep I started on a eGo myself 4 years ago. I've been happy vaping with some of the new tanks and Variable Volt/Watt devices. After 4 years I just ordered my first rebuildables. Getting a Kayfun and a Tobh. I'm hoping I enjoy the hobby part of vaping. When I first started vaping I was told that I was trading a habit for a hobby. Guess it's turning out to be true as I DIY some of my own juice and now moving into rebuildables. Anyway, Welcome and ask questions. There are is a ton of information here and a lot of friendly folks willing to help.

Thanks, Steelmage

I guess I took the crash course. From iClear on eGo battery to SQuape (R) RTA w/Asgard DNA30 in 3 months....and all the mech VV/VW mods, RTA's and RDA's along the way.

I bought most of the stuff I had from my "patron", a guy I met on local Craigslist. Bought a package deal of gear (and 2 subsequent buys) and have since learned a lot from him. There is no way I would have come around so fast, and had the quality of gear to try if it wasn't for him. As I went along, I collect quite a bit of kit, but am now down to one mech mod w/RDA & the newest setup, seen above.

I started w/tobacco blend to replicate the cowboy killer flavor while I was still using the eGo. Saw a pumpkin flavor and gave it a shot. Have not looked back since.

I vape what is referred to as the "savory" category.
Warm, sweet & complex desert flavors.

My all time fave is called Mobius by Black Diamond Vapes.
Flavor profile description:
Toasted cinnamon bark, ground with dark molasses sugar and layered in a flaky, butter pastry.

A few new favorites are:

Claim Your Throne by King's Crown.
Flavor profile description:
A perfect blend of sweet creams, butterscotch, and brown sugar.

Mulholland by Beverly Hills Elixirs
Flavor profile description:
Heavenly Creme Brulee with a nice exhale of torched caramel topping.

I like vanilla flavors, partial to a house snickerdoodle from local shop and other subtle blends.

First real good warm throaty (you will understand once you get one, if you have not yet) vape was with a blend of house vanilla to cut down Five Pawn's Castle Long Reserve, a very limited and expensive juice. It was sublime...

Flavor profile description:
Castle Long Reserve has been aged and steeped in a treated oak barrel for three weeks.
You’ll taste toasted coconut, roasted almond, brown sugar, two different vanillas (Madagascar vanilla bean and French vanilla), Kentucky bourbon, and charred oak.

I'm not sure any of these will work for you, based solely on the fact we both burned the same brand of cigarette. I believe it's largely based on your palette and to some extent, budget.

I strongly discourage you not to buy any flavors online based on my or anyone else's description, unless you have tried it.

Except the Mobius, everyone I have had vape that digs it....:D

I started out vaping last September with a little cheap $20 kit and since then I've had about 5 different mods from the mvp to the nemesis clone, and the magneto to the SID. My 5th and favorite mod now is the asMODus black fat snow wolf and the asMODus 26650 atomizer that pairs perfectly with it.

Had a clone Tesla 26650 mod and Tobh atty w/dual coil build for a minute. Thing was a vape chucking BEAST.
Just not for me, but glad I tried it. An "itch" that needed scratching. Guy offered me 120 cash for it, couldn't pass that up as I had purchased it it a package deal of gear I only paid 100 for...

Am using a Magneto w/my Nimbus, still only rocking 1 coil.

Only other gear I have besides the new setup. Have a strong feeling it's NOT going to get used much.....:D

I started vaping about 6 months ago to quit the cigs. first device was crappy ego and disposable tank. i quickly moved onto a vv mod with a nautilus mini. now I have tons of vape gear and my wife is starting to dislike what I spend on my "hobby" lmao

I hear ya!
Wife and I quit analogs about the same time, but she did it cold, never getting into the electronic alternatives.

She was pretty stoked when I finally did quit, 4 weeks after her, and surprisingly, supported me 100%.
No "freak out" when I started dropping coin on lots of used gear. Raised and eyebrow or two, but no big deal.

Funny thing is I told her the first couple weeks while I was still using iClear 30 tank on eGo battery, that it was not a hobby, that I would be done soon. Once I got that first good flavor and vape tho, it was over......

Buying gear, building coils, cloudchasing (very short-lived) and juicing it up. She keeps threatening to have a t-shirt printed up:

"It's NOT a hobby"

I was lucky. I bought well, and was able to resell most of the used gear I bought for a small profit. Enough to get the Asgard DNA and SQuape (R)eloaded.

Regardless, @ 2 packs a day, I was spending 300+ a month on cigs. So any way you look at it, we're still ahead! :D

Hey welcome! Congrats on vaping and finding us on the ECF forum! I've been vaping for five years and back then it was the CIG like ecigs. I vaped and cut down on my smoking but was not able to leave the cigs completely until a year ago! What a difference better equipment made, and I'm not even using some of the best yet! Buckle up and get ready for a great journey!
