Finding a cigalike for my father. And the *best* Marlboro flavor?

Hello ECF <3 I hope some of you cigalike pros can help me with this.

My dad has been saying that he has been wanting an ecig for a while. He has been smoking for around 45 years and is crazy stubborn about it. I've let him try my provaris, but he coughs everytime. He just doesn't understand the slow draws no matter how much I explain it. I've emailed him a few times with kits I've thrown together, such as a itaste 3.0 with a protank, for example. He'll look at them and lose interest.

So yesterday, we were spending the day together and ended up stopping by Walgreens. I run in to buy him his pack of Pall Malls, and I see that they have Blu's there. I get him the disposable one for $9.99 (24mg). We go back to his house and have dinner. After dinner I show him the Blu and how it works. He's super interested because it's small and looks just like a cigarette. He also likes that there is no button.

The next two hours consisted of him asking me a ton of questions, him throwing it around the house to see if it will break, me showing him the coils in my Diver and trying my best to explain how the thing works, etc. He didn't have a single cigarette and just kept puffing away on the Blu. He kept saying "no bull...., I think you did it.. I think this will work with the right flavor!"

It wasn't until I got home and started some research that I realized that Blu makes rechargeable cigalikes. I knew there were rechargeable ones out there somewhere and I had told my dad I would find him one.

So here I am. Like many years ago when you all help me, I hope you wonderful people of ECF can help me put together a kit for my father and add some years to his life :)

He liked:
The size of the Blu
How it had no button and starts working on draw

What I know he needs:
Rechargeable
Refillable!
A battery that is safe. (3 or 4 most likely)

He wants:
He would like a white one if there was an option, and possibly a red LED instead of a blue one. He has it in his mind that it must look like a real cigarette. Color isn't a deal breaker, though.
Something that tastes exactly like Marlboro cigarettes. I would like this from a reputable vendor with safe juice.

If this actually works, I plan on taking him up a step to egos and mini tanks as quickly as possible. It may be months before that happens though. For now, just need to get him off the stinkies as cost efficient as possible. Packs of Pall Malls are very cheap here in NC, at around $3 a pack, so spending a ton of ecigs is hard to swing at this point.

Here are some rechargeable 510 auto batteries.

Joye 510 Auto Switch Battery

From the same store here are some super tiny clearomizers that he might find easier to fill than soaking up a cartomizer (though honestly a cartomizer will work best for him)

Vision 510 Nano Clearomizer

I can't really help you on the tobacco liquids, I make my own... I will say I've tasted the Greensmoke Red flavor and it was quite like a cigarette. Greensmoke might be a good solution to start him off on, but the batteries aren't 510 and if he decides to want to try something from there he'll have to ditch the Greensmoke format.

The Blu rechargeable are garbage. They perform NOTHING like the Blu disposables.

You might look at MigCigs. Good batteries, although I think they're all manual.

V2 is another option, and those come in automatic. I started with V2 and liked them fine. They sell the EX Blanks for juice, which are tiny (overpriced, but decent and super easy for a beginner to use) 0.9 ml refillable, disposable clearomizers.

For juice, I've personally never found a good, smoky, pure tobacco flavor. That just seems to be very difficult to reproduce. But I do like MoonMountain's Dusty Boots - it has a very smoky quality about it, but has noticeable notes of raisin/plum.

If he likes coffee, I really love MigCigs Colombian Coffee liquid. To me, it tastes exactly like mildly sweetened, black coffee and has a definite roasted bean smokiness about it. That's the flavor that finally helped me to cut back my smoking and feel like I was getting something similar enough to smoking to be satisfying.

That said, you know how subjective taste is, so that'll just take the ol' trial and error.

Way to go trying to get your dad off the cigs, and kudos to him for being willing to give it a shot. Good luck to you both!

How about the joye eroll? I googled it because I didn't know if it came in white, but it seems it does. A lot of people really like this one. It does NOT have a red tip as far as I can tell. I think the only option is blue. Maybe I am wrong. The charger case looks pretty slick.

Anyway, from what I hear, they don't hold a lot of liquid, so if I were trying to switch an older inveterate smoker to one of these I'd get quite a few atomizer heads and learn how to clean them. I'd probably also try to be available for making sure a supply of clean atomizers and liquid was always available.

Does the Joye autoswitch come in a kit? I can't seem to find it on their site. Something with charger, carts, etc.

I completely forgot that Joye makes a cigalike kit, might be a good contender for him. I promise I don't work for this vendor they just keep coming up when I search for this stuff, you might want to look around and shop for better deals.

Here's a link.

Another option, cheaper than the eRoll and with a 510 connection so he could still use the clearos on other devices if he likes the ease of the little disposables:

Kanger E-Smart 510 Clearomizer Starter Kit - EVcigarettes.com

It comes in various colors, but it's manual...just throwing it out there. You could also just get some cheaper 510 cig-alike batteries in auto and a pack of the e-Smart clearomizers. I still use and love the e-Smart system for portability when running errands and for the numerous flavors I like to vape a little of, but don't want to waste a big tank on (bought a 50 clearo "carton" cheap on the Kangertech site). Nothing to fiddle with or replace, just fill, vape, repeat 'til it stops working or starts tasting nasty, then toss it and open a new one.

I am going through the same process.

It's not the start up costs that concerns me, but the cost of the cartomizers.

Good cartomizers are now £1 in the UK. £4.99 for 5. OR one vendor does 5 x 1.5ml cartos for £7.45.

For this reason, any vendor selling cartomizers for £10 is of no interest to me.

and how much are "Green smoke" in the UK.? £10... FAIL.

Quite frankly, most of these kits are a shocking rip-off. I am sending this to my Pa.

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...-review-myepack-v1-power-pcc-starter-kit.html

£26.99 is about $44.00

I think I'm sold on the eroll. I love the no filler carts and the way the atty works. I'll just get him a few extra batteries. Still watching videos.

One thing though. Are there any safety concerns about these automatic batteries? Turning on when not in use, etc?

I have no idea. I do t think I've ever read about a venting eroll battery, but I haven't done a search.

I have never used these myself, but I've read many people who like them. I considered getting one at one point, just to see, but the point brought up by djsvapour above about the consumables cost, is what gave me 2nd thought. Then again, I'm not tied to the idea of a cigalike. I've been vaping for 2.5 years, and currently using a provari with a Kayfun, so cigalike is not something I feel the need for. If having a cigalike was important to me, I might be willing to deal with the consumable costs of the eroll.
