Hi
I got my first Provari mini at the start of May and the finish is wearing off, just from carrying it around in my pocket.
I have read that the finish is meant to be durable, so I'm surprised that it's wearing off so quickly on mine.
Here's a low res picture.

Although I have had disagreements with the Provari group, it seems this is becoming more and more evident. The NEW finish is not as durable as the original. I'm sure Provape had all intentions of providing a nice New finish, but I also hope they are taking complaints seriously and looking into correcting.
Kind of puts a damper on an otherwise excellent device.

WHOA... just to confirm, you mean start of May this year? 2013? Like a few weeks ago?

That's no good... I have the same model and colour as you, its my daily vape and I was upset at a tiny 2mm area where my finger rests that was wearing down... Your problem is ridiculous...

Are you SURE you haven't been using your ProVari as sandpaper to refinish any furniture?

If I were you I'd be sending that back to Provape and demanding a replacement or refund...

Sorry to see this, Jake Dubbya. There is really no excuse for that with normal use. Being in the UK, do you have the option of contacting ProVape about that mess? Others have had success in having ProVape replace the tube. Black appears to be an issue.

The Black was the color, which I wanted when ordering my 2nd Mini. However, just prior to ordering, a few accounts of black finishes wearing out, stopped me from getting the black. I ordered another silver Mini instead.

It was ordered on 13th April 2013 and arrived a few days after, sold via a UK online retailer.
I've spoken with them and they want me to send it back to them and in turn will send it to Provape..In a meantime I'll be minus a Provari, which isn't ideal..
I also got a bronze mini, which seems to be surviving life in my trousers quite well..
Cheers!

I keep my provari in a pocket with nothing else (like back pocket or what not) I've had mine v2 for almost 8-9 months and have very little silver showing through. Looks like you had a very light coating (I'm assuming they are still using cerakote coatings) Theres not way it should be coming off that quickly.

Wow... That sure looks like a lot of wear for only a Couple of Weeks.

What else do you carry in your pockets with your Provari?

I got my black Mini in mid-April. It gets daily use, often carried in a front jeans pocket. As you can see in the below pic taken last week, no unusual wear of the finish.

On the other hand, my blue Provari is about three months shy of being a year old. You can see a couple of scuff marks on it suffered from falling from my lap when getting out of my car (myself forgetting it was there) and landing on the parking lot pavement a couple of times. It also got frequent rides in my jeans pocket.

Makes me wonder why they don't bring back the black chrome finish. I believe the reason they stopped with it was because the logo would wear off prematurely, but at least on mine the logo is still there, and save for one scratch from an unfortunate incident of bouncing around in a semi's cup holder, it isn't showing any wear. I'm particularly referring to the side grooves, where it seems the satins are particularly prone to wearing at the edges, whereas mine looks good as new.

(edited to add: especially since the new 2.5 version doesn't have a printed logo to wear off.)

That's insane!!! I'm sorry to see that. It looks like it went through some kind of tumbling machine. I got my first Black Mini in mid April as well and don't have a blemish on mine yet.

First, since you have another Mini on hand, send it back ASAP so they can resolve it. Actually, if I were you, I'd contact ProVape directly and see if you can cut out the UK vendor middleman, maybe shorten the turnaround a little. Is the UK vendor an official ProVape re-seller?

Second, I'd suggest you invest $3 in a couple little velvet pouches for pocket carrying. I'm not sure of particular UK vendors, but many sites carry them.

I'd hate to even say this, but it occurred to me that since you bought it from a merchant other than PorVape, is it possible that its color wasn't originally black? The thought is way out there, but it just crossed my mind.
