Well I got my Aga T2 today from Hoosier Vape. Had some time this afternoon so I thought I'd fool around with it. Have never rebuilt anything more complicated than a Kanger head before and it took a lot of trial and error just to get the hang of that, so I knew I was in store for some frustration. But Jeesh.

I had already seen a few video tutorials but I watched about an hour and a half more of them just to familiarize myself with a Genesis tank. I figured before I attempt a mesh wick, I'd attempt a silica wick since I'm already familiar with silica and it looked so simple on the videos. Okay, a couple hours later I'm pretty much out of kanthal and running low on wick after about four failed attempts.

My ohms kept reading ricidulous numbers sometimes higher than 9, and the ohms would not remain constant. I could check the ohms and they'd be at 8 and a few seconds later check them again and they'd be at 5 and then a minute later they'd be at 9. That's when it wasn't shorting out completely. I fiddled with it here and there trying to see if the wire was touching something, broke the wire, had to start again, same thing, fiddle, broke wire, started again. My hands are way too big for this kind of thing and even with two pairs of glasses one over the other I could barely see to thread the wire through the hole.

Of course I nearly lost the little screw and nut a couple of times when it fumbled out of my fingers.

I tested it so many times my MVP died and is now recharging. Finally I got it working on what has to be the sloppiest, ugliest looking wick ever built, using a 3 mm wick because I pretty much ran out of the other stuff. Now it's vaping, sort of, off my c-twist but tastes like a mouthful of silica since I was so exhausted I forgot to torch the wick first. Tastes like sucking on a filthy penny.

But at least it's doing SOMETHING which I at least count as a small achievement. I'm putting everything away for now before I have a fit and I'll make another attempt after I buy some more wire. I'll probably try the mesh next, the way it's suppose to be in the first place.

I'll figure this thing out sooner or later and when I do I'll be a vape god. But for now I'm drinking Ginger Ale trying to get the silica taste out of my mouth.

If you're using the wire that came with it, don't blame yourself. Blame the wire.

Variable resistance is indeed most likely a connection problem. Quite possibly in the center post department. It can be a bit tricky to get the coil fastened without "something" happening to one or more of the 3 center post nuts. Fastening the top nut may also fasten the lower nut. Meaning, the coil won't be fastened between them. Make sure the bottom two nuts aren't moving alot by screwing them down snugly. But not so snug you pull up the whole center post to the point where it squashes your 510 insulator. Compressed: Fine. Squashed and shorted: Not fine.

Did you read eHumans guide? That one is very much about mesh, but it may help you get a better grasp of the whole Aga deal.

Hope you got a lot of Ginger Ale. And keep blaming the Aga, not yourself. For a good while, at least. It is indeed a fighter. But... it can be defeated. It just takes a good bit of patience and wax on, wax off. I wouldn't think silica would be *that* hard tho... so I'm guessing if you sort out the variable resistance you should be 97.5% there.

(Disclaimer: I am not (or believe I am) an expert on gennies. Even tho I do sing their praise more than occasionally.)

I bought an AGA-T2 a few months back. After many failed attempts at building a working coil I gave up. Bought an RDA and couldn't be happier. Good on ya for sticking with it but I just couldn't do it. I am now looking to find someone who wants the trials and tribulations of a genny to gift my AGA to.

Video tutorials are so misleading because the camera is zoomed up really close so it's like, how easy, just put that wire through there and string that wire around there. Then you get it in your hands and everything is microscopic and it's like, how the heck am I suppose to get my fingers in THERE?

did you burn your stainless wick, as in jet black all the way thru

I recommend doing the drillbit method so you don't get hotspots or shorts
I also twist 32gauge wire on a drill and wrap 5-6 wraps for right at 2Ω (I kick or APV my RBA's)

I attempted a silica wick, not stainless mesh. It's actually vaping so as ugly as my coil is, it's at least working. The problem is I ran out of thinner wick and used 3mm without burning it first so it just tastes like silica. It's slowly soaking up the juice and starting to taste better but I doubt this build will every feed right so I'll probably save the Boba's Bounty, put it back in the bottle, and wash the thing out for another attempt in the future.

I have a pair of AGA-T2s that I don't use much these days.

I got really good at setting them up with SS mesh to decide it was just too bloody fiddly. So I set it up with cotton yarn. Easier to cope with but a bit of a pain in the but to thread the cotton unless you take it entirely apart and thread from the bottom up. SO I tried it with rolled cotton and a micro coil. easier to set up but I am still not in love with the thing. Don't get me wrong it is a decent vape. I just find not being able to lie it on its side to be a bit of pain in the .....

OP it sounds like you are having trouble with the wire attachments and or the center post is not tight.

Also be sure to put the cap on with the air hole as close to the coil as you can get it.

You have to learn to walk before you can run (G)! There is a bit of a learning curve, so don't sweat it. These vids show people who have been doing coil re-builds for so long they can probably do them in their sleep! As mentioned, tighten up the bottom nut, then the middle nut.. I use a 1/16th drill bit to make a micro coil. Put the coil ends under the top nut or screw one at a time and tighten. Do the other, making sure nothing is touching where it shouldn't. I use a pair of tweezers to move the wire around. Check the ohms resistance (assuming your PV has the capability. If the coil glows properly, run some cotton through the coil and stuff the end of the cotton into the tank. Drip some juice onto the wick and coil so it doesn't burn. Put the top cap on and vape. Just takes some patience and a little bit of reading. You'll get it and be a re-coil wizard in no time!

The AGA T2 is an unforgiving atomizer to learn on. Your fluctuating resistance problems are probably in the center post. You may think you have that nut tight, but it might not really be. Make sure the wire is sitting in there flat on the 2nd nut and then tighten. I even like to use a needlenose pliers to give it an extra tweak. Also, make sure not to over tighten the bottom nut. It just needs to be snug. Otherwise you distort the insulators which will cause problems too. When building with mesh, try to keep the top of the wick as close to the centerpost as possible. The T2 is notorious for it's top leg hotspot on mesh. I added a small stainless steel washer between the top 2 nuts to deal with that.

Once you get it set up on mesh, it vapes like a beast, but the learning curve is steep. If you're interested in setting a genesis up on mesh, and would like a more forgiving atomizer to build on, the RSST is the way to go. The insulated wick hole and tank make it impossible for the wick to short to the atomizer. Plus, the new pyrex version just came out. :)

@vaperature -

Dont feel bad, I spent a week and a ton of wick, wire, and mesh before junk drawering it, 4 months later I decided wth and tried it again, only I used 2mm ekowool & 32g kanthal. I measured and cut the ekowool, then slid it over a straightened paper clip. Wrapped it at 6/5 or 5/4 (I forget which) then trimmed the ends of the wire equal. I put it thru the wick hole clip and all, lined up the wire ends and tightened them up before removing the paperclip. Its been working great ever since I am glad to say.
