First Box Mod (Getting Starting Building)

I've been reading a lot on what all I will need to build a dual 26650 mechanical box mod (parallel) and have purchased these parts so far....

Hammond 1590BBK Box
Fat Daddy Vapes - Spring Loaded 510 With 22mm Washer
Stainless Steel Button 5A

I'm no where near finished obviously.... still not 100% on this all which is why I am not ready to build just getting the parts I know I will need. But I will be picking up some 14g copper wire, and still not sure what to use for the springs I would like copper but think that will only work if I build my own. Any help would be awesome and if anyone has any stand out threads for first timers that would be nice. I've done a lot of searching but haven't come up with much.... also wanted to put a led voltmeter on it so I could have an idea of what voltage I was running to be safe as possible. The vapetribe box mod is what I was going after looks wise... going to do the Mosfet way and make it be able to handle between 50 - 70 amps.... alittle over kill but that's okay. Still not sure on parallel or series...

Might pick up the 14g copper wire tomorrow if I get time and the 510 from fat daddy should be here in a day or so...

Do they make battery sleds for 26650's dual's or single

Thank you for not building an unregulated box like the Vipetribe one you show. How they have the switch carrying the load is a very unsafe way to build, the mosfet design you are choosing to do is a much safer design.

There are a few 3D printed sleds around, but not much else without modifying sleds from other battery sizes.

Yeah they're design is just what I'm after as far as white box very simple put together but much safer. And I got some 14g and 12g copper wire today. Still need to figure out battery sled and battery springs....

Found a N-Channrl Mosfet 40V 202A transistor that I will use for it. Went ahead and got two of them since I know I will most likely build another one after this and they didn't have many of these in stock. Also gotta find a white led voltmeter that can cut off and on unless it won't kill that much power. I had originally planned to put it on the outside of box somewhere now I'm thinking of keeping it inside. Still unsure....

I'd like to know where you are getting the transistor and how you would wire it because I am doing a similar build.

Amazon had them.. just look up N-Channel Mosfet and you can choose amps from there. Also I'm just going by the wiring guide I found on one of these forums... I will post it later when on my tablet because I have it saved on there...

What kind of coils can you/are you going to run in this build? Im looking at doing this for the first time as well. I usually vape at around .15 to .1 ohms, sometimes even lower than that with .08 being my minimum. So can this build your doing handle that? or should I look at getting "sturdier" parts?

Also... what is a MOSFET and why should/shouldn't I have it in the build? tried to do some research on it but its all Spanish to me lol. Someone please put it in elementary terms.

CParker1987 the MOSFET takes the load off of the switch so you don't have to worry about the switches amp rating (how much of a load it can handle) and use any switch you want without worrying about it malfunctioning.

OMG thanks so much for clarifying. Now anyone know about the question about the ohms?

With the MOSFET and 2 30amp vtc5's you're good for a 60 amp pull. The lowest build you can do is .07 but that leaves you absolutely no margin for error. NONE. I wouldn't recommend going below .15.

Still have to order a resistor and volt meter... been close last week and haven't got anything done. Need to figure out if I'm going to buy a 2x18650 holder or make my own deal for dual 26650... if I knew how to make the copper wire springs/contacts it would be much easier....

How did it turn out? I myself have been searching for information to build my first box mod which I also want to be a unregulated, dual 26650. I have found information on it is very far and few between so thank you so much for listing some of your components that you are using. I have been trying to decide between parallel or series but it seems most people have said to go parallel. I plan to have mine as a sub ohm build which is also why I have chosen the 26650 for the higher amps. Any tips/advice you have found along the way would be awesome. I am still in the planning stages and haven't purchased anything as of yet.

Please let me know if you do, I pretty much have everything needed to go, just trying to figure out if and how to put a mosfet and resistor in there like OP said any help would be appreciated.

just got done with my dual 18650 mosfet build and the mosfet got hotter than popcorn and looked a little closer and they sold me the wrong mosfets too high resistance back to the waiting game. Unless one of you guys know how to get around the whole too much resistance thing
