Kanthal 28 wrapped on a 5/64 drill bit on an IGO-L (what language is this I'm speaking??)

Now just patiently waiting for vape mail to come this Wednesday so I can refine this coil on my first mech, a Nemesis clone.

Still need to test, test, test....reads at 1.2 ohms....will compress, test, wick with cotton, saturate with juice, test again...then cross ye olde fingers and vape!!

Shout out to the e-Cig forum for getting me this far...and to an awesome YouTube video by Ruby Roo.

No worries, friends...I have full plans to heat and squish...just have to receive my Nemesis clone first (if I've already explained it's a clone, it is proper for me to reiterate that in every post hence? Still learning forum etiquette)

But seriously, thanks for the votes of confidence...been studying like a madwoman...one week ago I never thought I'd be attempting this today.

Just ordered a battery multimeter. My Vaping station is starting to look like a mad scientist gearhead lab LOL

Seriously....clockwise? I ask purely out of ignorance. I've been shown a couple different ways and the IGO-L vid by Ruby Roo did it this way.

yepper,

by wrapping it clockwise

as you tighten the screw, it pulls the wire in,

instead of trying to push the wire out...

once you have made the coil, even take something small round
(what ever you wrapped around)
and make little 'hooks' at the end of the tails, so to make it simpler to grab the screw

you'll get more comfy and it will make a easy, cleaner job of it... :)

Ah, that's right. I saw that advice on another vid; I don't remember which one. Yeah that does make sense. Thanks again. :)

Awesome, thank you. And thank you for all the time you've taken to help me. :toast:
I've found that they're really nice like that 'round here. :)

I've been stealthily reading up on threads like these in anticipation of building my first coil at some point in the near future. I've already got a serious multi-meter (for building and troubleshooting computers, so it's got way more features than I need for vaping pursuits.) I just bought my first mod, and within a couple of weeks I'm getting a Nautilus as well. The latter will be the recipient of my first coil build.

Everyone has been so nice to me thus far.

For what it is worth -- go on and build your coil -- start practicing. If you're anything like me, getting over the stigma of being "new" is the biggest hurdle.

not bad for a first coil. obviously needs some work. try pulling the wire tighter when you wrap and keep the coils closer together. also dont watch a video at first. keep the drill bit in the coil when you install it into your atty. after you secure your leads try pulling hard on the dri bit to pull out any slack. compress hard after dry burning. should have a nice coil in no time
