This should probably be in the newby section but since I'm in the UK I thought it might be useful for UK based folk.
Some background
I used to be around a 20 day smoker until the last 7 years or so when I started working from home mainly based at my PC. In that time my smoking has increased to close to 60 a day and I have started feeling like ..... Wheezing getting quite athsmatic etc I have smoked for 30 odd years now!
Over the last few months I have thought I should really do something about it and last week I decided to buy a starter pack (will expand more on that in a minute). It duly arrived last week but I had around 200 cigarettes left to smoke so decided to smoke them first. Truth be told the closer the day got that they ran out the more I started to get twitchy but thought I would persevere and commit to switch when the last one ran out. I had planned to smoke it as a ritual last ... after my supper on Wednesday evening. However sitting at the PC it was suddenly gone
(I was a bit miffed at that as I really wanted to enjoy my last one).
Back to what I bought:-
I intially bought the Titan510 from TECC bit decided to change my order to the Titan PCC Full Kit. The downside with that is it only comes with 1 battery and 1 atomiser (atty?). Having now used it for a couple of days I have been back and ordered a pack of 5 batteries and 5 attys plus the USB Pass through. This means my order is now over £120 (£50 for starter kit plus £70 for second order.
My reasoning being if the battery runs out or stops working I would suffer bad withdrawl symptoms, and mild panic trhat it might happen!
Initial Thoughts:-
First couple of puffs were an oh oh what have I done moment but the vapour soon improved. You do have to change the way you inhale otherwise you might hyave a coughing fit but I soon got the hang of it.
I have been smoking the pre-filled (Tobacco Flavour) 16mg cartridges that can with the Titan and although I don't find it as satisfying as a cigarette it is not too bad. There is higher nicotine content out there but i think I will try and stick with this sort of level (I feel it is not quite strong enough for me but hopefully i can use the opportunity to cut back on nicotine).
The one thing I am finding tricky is the throat hit/volume of vapour is not quite there but is ok. It might be because these pre-filled carts do not come with much liquid in them.
I am now 2 days in and I am hugely surprised that I have not had real cravings for a ciggy. I do reach for them on the odd occasion and I did keep the full ashtray to hand just in case I need to relight a fagend but so far I haven't needed to.
Latest:-
I ordered some samplers from Liberty Flights and many were out of stock but ended up with:- Camel, Dunhill, Straberry and Grape.
I have tried the Dunhill and the Grape. I must say the Dunhill is very good and although I haven't smoked Dunhill for a few years I think it is pretty close.
The Grape is also surprisingly good. I had serious doubts that a hardened smoker like me would take to Fruit Flavours (I have always hated Menthol ciggys) but my advice is don't knock it until you have tried it. I could even see me moving away from the Tobacco taste altogether but I will save that decision for the future.
I want to get into a regime with this as my initial outlay is quite high and I am concerened about ongoing (liquid) costs but hopefully will get a better idea in the next month or so. I want to try a few more tobacco flavours though.
Hopefully I have now bought all the hardware I should need. The USB Passthrough will be a great helpwhen at my desk so think about buying this in an initial order.
Questions:-
Bearing in mind I was smoking around around 60 a day how many carts would you expect me to get through? I have been using 2-3 but towards the end there is not much vapour.
Verdict
This has got to be worth a try for those of you who are undecided. Do a bit on here and check out some of the video reviews.
I think I have stopped smoking (fingers crossed) in 2 days with little or no real cravings....
I hope this is of some use to you guys
