It's 22:30 here in the Seattle area. I'm anxiously awaiting tomorow when I get home, as my e-cig starter kit should be ariving in the mail tomorow (pen-style from PureSmoker). I've been lurking around the forum for around two weeks now, just registered a few minutes now and here I am with the first (of hopefuly many) posts.

My big question is what to do once I get the package open? I've read so much about the e-cigarette and want to get the most out of the product. Charging, cleaning, dripping... there is so much to think about. I am expecially looking forward to getting the tar and other impurities out of mylife (along with the almost $4 per pack of tax). So much to look forward to tomorow.

Has anyone published a "e-cigarettes for dummies" type book? I would find that useful. Lots of good information on this forum, but sorta hard to cuddle up in bed to read, or to use the forum as a bathroom reader (as practical as it seems, I don't think my wife would let me set up the family computer in the bathroom):D.

Welcome to ECF leerm ....

I hear PureSmoker's pretty good, haven't tried them myself, but I may someday :D

#1 TIP FOR NEW ESMOKERS:
Do NOT let your cartridge run dry. You sense any type of burning, smoldering, or a weird plastic taste, either get a new cartridge or refill/top off the cartridge itself. Always keep your cartridge moist/wet. This will better your chances of having an awesome esmoking experience.

Other then that, smoke the thing right out of the box. Worry about cleaning when you need to do it. So many people get caught up in the technical side of things, they forget to enjoy the experience.

Once the batteries die, charge them overnight (a good 8-10 hours) and you're all set. Then just charge as needed (4 hours each)

Get the basics down, and within a week, you'll know your way around pretty darn good!

Enjoy bud!!! and keep us posted on your progress!

Welcome Leerm,

Read a few of the posts in the new members section and the tips section.
Everyone, including myself, asked the same questions when we started :D

CashMere is right on those tips, also, watch not to over heat the atomizer. You will feel if it gets real hot. I touch it on my cheek, and if its to hot, just wait a minute for it to cool a little. Its will heat, but shouldnt be able to cook bacon :D

good look leerm.. im sure you will love it if you remember these simply tips & you cant go wrong!

1.never smoke a cart until it drys out... if this happens the atomizer might get dry..dont worry just prime it with a little drop of juice.

2.dont overcharge the new batteries ..when the led is green remove the battery.. over charging after the green light has gone out will damage the life of your new battery.

3.forget draining atomizer every night its a waste of time because your only going to be smoking it again the next day.

4.if when smoking you get a gurgling boiling sound..this means the atomizers is flooded..take your cart out and replace with an empty cart and dry smoke it.. this will vapourize the remaing liquid in the atomizers ceramic pot and will clear the flooded atomizer.

5.change the batteries for a fresh one more often..even though your getting vapour.. the batteries need rechanging more often than you think to get good performance

hope this helps

Kit

Package arrived today! I got home just a few minutes before the Mrs had dinner on the table. Had enough time to open the package, ogle over everything and skim the instruction manual (in engrish) before dinner. The roast was kick-.... After dinner, I went out on the porch and tried the new e-cig. The smoke was unbelievable! Although I am going to switch the cartridge to menthol, as the regular just does not "taste" right to a menthol junkie like me. I am so pleased with this e-cigarette. And with the superior customer/shipping service from Pure Smoker, I think I'll continue to be a happy camper.:)

Glad that you like it, there are many awesome flavours out there :)

Not everybody is happy with the menthol though. Look up the posts on menthol crystals: dissolving a few of those seems to give a really strong kick (although heed the safety warnings ;))

One of the threads can be found herel, but there is quite a bit of discussion in the other threads if you have a look at the Search.

Denni,

You are so right. The menthol does not taste "right". I guess 20+ years of smoking "cheap-... generic menthols" may have corrupted my palate. I am thinking of switching flavors to something that is non-tobacco-ish... perhaps vanilla.

Leerm ... soooo many people start just like you, and once their sense of taste comes back, they start going for more of the fruity flavors.

Ofcourse, you still have your hardcore marlboro/cigar/bitter tobacco lovers, but I have seen lots of people move from regular tobacco flavors to fruity/fun flavors. :)
