First Duel Coil Build Question

So I'm experimenting on RDA builds. I first built a single coil, #26 wire, 8 wraps around a 3/32 hex wrench(its what I had). Tested out at 1.06 ohms. Coil heated up fairly fast with a fasttech 30 amp battery and seemed to vape ok.
Next I put another coil on it, same wraps etc. and the ohms are now at .52 which I think probably means I built it darn close to the first. Seems to vape a little warmer with more flavorful taste but does take much longer to heat the coils.
Is this what I should expect with a double coil? If I used smaller gage wire could I use a single coil build and if so would that be better? Or would the build deliver more flavor with two coils using smaller gage wire OR do I have it all mixed up?

By the sounds of it you have it on regulated mod otherwise it shouldn't take much longer to heat up the coils; unless the battery is under stress.

I know im coming across harsh, but you need proven, reliable batteries like aw, Sony, Panasonic, LG or orbtronics . Fasttech may be good for sampling cheap tanks, but it's not a reputable place to buy batteries

I know im coming across harsh, but you need proven, reliable batteries like aw, Sony, Panasonic, LG or orbtronics . Fasttech may be good for sampling cheap tanks, but it's not a reputable place to buy batteries
OOPS, the battery is an Efest 1600 /18650. Didn't have it in front of me when I originally posted. Oh, BTW no offense taken if it was a dangerous battery you would of been doing me a favor.

That means that battery is under stress; it can deliver 5 amps but not 10.
As for the 30 amp rating that might just be a pulse rating for 1/10 of a second.


On a mech, once you get 1 coil perfect, if your battery is up to it, adding a second coil, doubles the output of the battery, doubles the amount of vape, and heat up time should be the same as before.

I thought dual coils took longer to heat up -- due to the extra wire. so, you have to build at a lesser resistance or crank up the wattage to compensate. this isnt true?

If you're using a regulated mod in wattage mode, adding a second equal coil means each coil only gets half the power, so the coils would take longer to heat up and you'd need to crank up the wattage to compensate.

On mech mod, you're applying 4 volts to the coil; If you add a second equal coil, you're adding the same 4 volts to the second coil too.
If the battery is not a high drain type battery, then you get a big voltage drop when you add the second coil
