What is a good single coil build using 26 gauge kanthal that will be around .3-.5 ohms? That's the only wire that I have on hand, and I want to make a build that is easy to change cotton on for trying some new flavors. Thanks in advance

Are you building your first coil based on what you've been using (built by others) or is this your first step into rebuildables? Getting to the ohms you want will likely mean a dual coil build which more complicated than a single.
I'd suggest doing .8 ohm single coil builds to start and then doubling that build to get to .4 ohm

I'd start higher and with single coils for my first builds, like m-goat said.

I have been building dual coils for a couple of months that are completely based on the first coils that were built for me. I don't have any difficulty building that (dual coil 26 gauge kanthal around 2.5mm), but I have been hesitant to deviate from it.

I think it'd be a good idea to invest in a cheap ohm meter. You can buy them off ebay for like 8 bucks, and they make coil building a lot less guesstimation, which is always a good thing when it comes to things that may blow up in your face.
