If you were advising a newbie about what to get for their first esmoking purchase what would you suggest is the minimum for a decent starter experience?

Imagine this is for a moderate smoker who might want to try quitting. Money is not plentiful so it needs to be the bare minimum in case they don't like esmoking. However, it needs to be sufficient to keep them going for a week or so until they can order more stuff if they like it.

A kit here means 2x batteries, 1x atomiser, 1x charger and cord, 5x cartridges.

A Kit should be 2 full units to start, IMO
2 Batteries and 2 Atomizers
Add some juice and youll be all set to "Start"
IF, and it can happen, the atomizer dies quick, you can be truned off before you really get started. That is the weakest link in the whole product.
We all know after a week or so, we all started ordering everything with the name e-cig to try it after we were hooked on them :D
Thats why i picked 1 Kit, and 1 Atom, and 1 Juice.
You asked what would be the Basic to Start with.

That's what my advice would be too Steele, a kit, juice and atomiser. It's a balance between being sure of a working kit and not spending too much to try it out.

I have to third that. A kit, juice and extra atomizer make for the perfect setup for a new e-smoker. If any suppliers were to throw together a super starter kit like this it would probably sell quiet well. Now that I think of it I believe KatyS may have a kit like that doesn't she?

I said BASIC KIT to see if he/she is going to like it first. These things ain't cheap and I know I have sunk a ton of money into them. If I had to do it all over again, I would listen to my own advice here. I would recommend the newbie get the 901 as the first and only get the basic kit and a bottle of juice to start. THEN if he/she thinks that e-cigs are he way to go, move from there.

What I would recomend for a starter and what a starter would buy are very different. I got the first kit a week ago, 901 with battery, atomiser & 15 carts. The choice of 901 was just luck. The decision was based on cost having no real confidence in the product. Having got the product, enjoyed it, got frustrated with battery, saw I would quickly use a the carts and read this forum I bought the screwdriver, janty classic and 3 bottles of totaly wicked juice. The delivery time and product from the original supplier was good but the marketing of how many cigerretes it replaced etc was the typical nonsense.

These things come with 5 carts and 2 batteries already. I think people are forgetting that.
Add the bottle of Juice and you have what i said earlier.

This should be the Basic set to get started, only whats needed.
We all know if you like it you will add to this noob set, soon as you can, or get paid :D

I bought my starter kit and the spare atonisers as advised on the forums, tho at the time didn't look too much into batteries and dripping involved either ecig.com or syringing old carts! I soon got the hang of it all tho and am now happily spending little buying empty carts and liquid instead of alot on carts how kewl is THAT!!!*chases another butterfly*

Price is still a killer for many wannabe e-cig smokers. Even at $50, it's a killer fee to try something they might not like at all. So I'd wait a few months and watch developments.

Right now, Royalsmokers is getting ready to market a fully disposable e-cig. Battery, cart and all gets tossed. These are designed for machine sales at places like airports. Each cig is supposed to equal a pack of real cigs. Perfect. If the price is right, a newbie could buy a true disposable, try it and determine if the incredible lists of paraphenalia here is something they want to get involved in.

Until then, I'd recommend starting with a Ruyan Vegas. Exactly how I've advised my tobacco shop owner. Everything else is too iffy and too much trouble for all but the hardest core e-smoking enthusiast.

My first, I bought a 901 kit, and because I was reading this forum - an extra atomizer (I thought the thing would burn out in a week and I would run crying to the corner store for a pack of smokes) and a grip of Menthol cartridges. As it turned out I'm on the same atomizers (just ordered some spares because I know my luck is going to run out with those eventually), and I still have a bunch of Menthol carts because once I figured out that juice is delicious and amazing - Menthol kind of got kicked to the curb.

I also have a pilot (on account of the pretty!) but I stick w/ my 901 most of the time.

Kit + Juice (pick one that you wouldn't normally try) + Atomizer. I would say just kit + atomizer, but it's not really giving the e cig a fair shot.
