Just recieved my new IKV atties, several 4.5's, 3.5's and some IO6's.

All atties received metered fine ~0.2 higher or lower, exept one 3.5 ohm, that one reads 4 ohm, so pretty good...

Tried the 4.5 ohm 510 first on my Darwin as I never had used atties higher then 3.5 ohm.
Dripped 6 drops, let it sit for 10 minutes and took a drag running at 5.8 Volt, the Wattage = 6.5 and the Amperage = 1.1.
Burning like hell, so another 3 drops, let it sit and again burning throat I have never had before. Lowered the voltage to 5 volts, same burning sensation. Took the driptip off to see if the coil was saturated, it was, so again dripped another 2 drops but still horrible. So I took the next 4.5 Ohm attie, dripped 8 drops, let it sit for 15 minutes, dialed the wattage lower and voltage read 4.8 volts and the same burned experience. I can't make anything else out of this, anybody any idea?????

Update: first 4.5 ohm died

Update on the 3.5 Ohm atties:

First one same issue as with the 4.5 ohm, burning!!!!
Second and last one reads 4 ohm instead of 3.5 Ohm but this one seems to work ok.

So out of the 4 atties, one died wthin 10 minutes, 2 burn my throat like hell and one is metered .5 higher but works ok.....

Update: one 4.5 ohm is actually starting to perform, so soaking is a must here......but not getting the vape I had expected..... disappointing is the word here, sorry Isaac, I love the IO6, but these new 510's are not what I had expected.....

I dripped 6 drops, so one more drop and the attie is flooded???? I let it sit blew out access liquid...did that with all 4, same result, one died in 5 min,,,so how much break-in period is required? I put on a IO6, regular Joye, Hybrid, never any issue.....

Seems you omitted that in the OP...

BTW all atties have a break in period. Some short some longer than others. Through experience I have come to find out that the longer it takes to season one, the longer it lasts.

Emonty I dont understand this, unless you happen to get a few bad Atty's. I prime my Iken Attys by filling them up to the dam Bridge, I leave a carto condom on the bottom of the Atty. I let the Atty sit like this for about 10-15 min. Then I start to vape and I've had nothing but SUPER RESULTS with every Iken Atty that I've ever gotten from Issac, never even a DOA. You have some bad luck Brutha because these are some super ROCK STAR Atty's. Do you have any further results with any of the others you have tried from this batch Emonty ?

oops didnt see the last post, good stuff

When I got my 4.5 I soaked it for 15 mins then blew it out added some drops and vaped it at 5.5 volts. To my surprise I got the worst burnt tasting hit ever in my throat.I looked thinking it was dry but it wasn't,so I turned the voltage down to 4 volts and the taste was gone.I actually had to vape with it for about a full day at lower volts and then I was able to vape at 6 volts with no problems.

Update:

After around 12 hours it performed like the best attie in the world, GREAT, GREAT.....then it died. Sending them back to Isaac, he can take a close look....I will report back when Isaac comes back to me with his findings

PS: the 4.5 ohm reads 4.8 ohm and after 10 hours it still burns my throat running on 4V, sending that one also back...

So my IO6 I ordered saved my morning, they are excellent!!

I hope he comes up with something as this is TOTALLY abnormal. I am glad he made the switch back to the originals. I have no explanation but please keep us updated. Isaac went back to his grass roots because of the inconsistencies of the other mfr. OTOH I sure hope the Chinese aren't giving him the bone. I was/am affray a day like this would happen, I hope not.

There are two manufacturers:
  • the original; and
  • the former.

These new ones that you are vaping (new IKV 510s) from the original mfr are the latest, because the 4.5 was not made by the mfr in between (the former).

The "former" received the guts made in the US and were built in China. The "new" or "original" are entirely built in China, once again. These were the atties that put IKV on the map so to speak. I made IKV my sole supplier because of these atties.

In searching for perfection he decided to have the guts made in the US and the atties built in China because the US have yet to own this capability. This move was less than favourable and a step backwards for many reasons, and as stated totally unrelated to your experiences here.

That being said... Your current experiences are out of the norm and I am sure Isaac wants to know about them. You have sent the faulty units back and they will be replaced. The more important aspect of this exchange is that Isaac will be able to conduct a post mortem on them and determine the cause of your woes (we hope).

OTOH you need to understand that not everyone knows how to vape or drip, someone that goes through 20 atties+ in 2 weeks has a problem, and many will attest to this. Yes you will get the odd dud in a batch but you will not get 20 duds, if you do, you are doing something wrong. It is plain and simple - from liquids used, liquid viscosity to vaping style. I have scorched every cartomiser that Isaac has put out, does that make them bad or is there a common denominator here? My personal vaping style is the culprit... I know this.

I hope this post was able to shed some light wrt which batch you are vaping on.
