Any insights on how I should know when to switch out the cart? As I understand it, the quality of the batting (does this cartomizer have regular batting?) degrades pretty quickly, especially if you let it run dry. Does this mean it burns, or becomes less absorptive? Won't be blazing on this thing all day every day, likely an average of 5 drags/day. Maybe I should just set a schedule, like change the cart every 2 weeks?

Don't have a great answer for you on that one...

The filler is a little different from what I've seen before, and it's a bit more burn/scorch resistant compared to some other disposable atomizer carts I've seen. Only thing I can say is use them as long as possible until you feel like swapping it out. It's the great thing about disposable atomizers..I've used them for a week before switching them out for the hell of it (as opposed to out of necessity). I think we'll have a better picture once we've got them for a while, anyone with some input on this let us know!
