Hi, new to e-cigs and to this forum.

I smoked for 16+ years and I had my last cigarette (analog) 7-8 days ago. .Im not counting, never going back..

I knew I was done with my last cigarette. I was tired of the smell, hiding it from my kids etc. .I had stopped previously a long time ago for 9 months but forced myself back unto it for the things I associated with stress relief since the chemical was long gone.

I went one day without an analog then decided to try a Blu to help with the urges. It's one of those things where if you don't have any smokes you GOTTA get some more, but if you have some then.....eh, don't need one that bad....more for security I guess.

I was immediately impressed! .I Could take a few wacks in the car when I wanted without spraying it down from the smell. .I could hit it a little when i wanted and put it in my pocket when I was done. I didn't have to put life on pause for 6-7 minutes while I finished a ciggarette! .I was able to be more discreet with it than the analogs. .I try not to advertise my habits and this was great!

At first, I didn't know how much to smoke...should I be calling it vape?...I puffed it here and there throughout the day and remember my muscles feeling a little slower/relaxed at times (over did it homes) .After a couple of days, my Thoat and jaw muscles felt different and my nuts felt funny when I vaped...weird right?....I took it for the new chemicals I was introducing.
**edit: now four days into premixed juice and everything is normal...no worries.

I got the hang of it and used better discretion with the second e-cig I bought. I had no idea how much I would enjoy it, especially after visiting a smoke shop where I found my current kit.

I went in looking for something similar to the Blu in size. I wanted something small and didn't look funny. However everything they had was too fancy or looked like a cigarette with the filter and everything. The size was perfect but I didnt want something that looked like a cigarette or fancy with cool colors and diamonds or bling factor.

So I was a little disappointed as I didn't want to spend more on a disposable but wanted a Decent kit. The guy at the smoke shop sold me on an Ego. I think that's what it's called. It says Uno Vapor on it and has what he called a clearmizer or something....it has the wicks on the sides and you can see the juice. He let me sample some different flavors and everything was harsh but seemed to have more vapor to blow out. I stressed my concern about the harshness but the guy just said it was the nicotine that made it that way.

Kind of a let down because I dont want to feel like im getting into something new or smoking something harsh. Ive been doing it for 16 years and my ciggs weren't harsh to me by then. Why should I feel like I'm just starting to smoke all over again. Thats why I liked the Blu, smooth transition, no harshness. No it wasn't exactly the same as an analog but it was perfect for my needs. So I looked it up. The Blu disposable is all VG and has 24mg. Im sure this is not news to members here.

This ego is ok, It works good but I feel like I'm smoking a pen. When I see it I think...paraphonilia. Dont get me wrong i love this thing....too much. Im vaping my brains out. I cant stop. Im going to get some 0 and mix it with some 11 or 12 so i dont get so much when i puff away. Im using 18 now. The juice i purchased is already a mix of vg and pg but i would like to buy some vg and make a mix with less pg.

The thing with this "Ego" is that...and i haven't figured it out yet but..when i use it for the first time of the day, i is really harsh and doesn't produce a full hit. I have to puff it like a pipe for a minute before the harshness subsides and feels more natural. I dont know if its my throat adjusting each time or if its the ego. Can anybody chime in on this? Its a little annoying. I'd like something more consistent as far as the feeling goes.

I'm going to keep reading up and try some of the suggested cartamizer kits.
As much as the Ego style makes it pleasurable to vape. Its something id rather keep home.

I typed this up on my phone. Hope it's legible. Thanks!

Greens, welcome to the forum and welcome to a good, new alternative to smoking. As you have seen, you generally do have to hit an e-cig a bit different than an analog cigarette. Puffing the vapor into your mouth and holding it a few moments before the inhale is generally the way you will want to do it. It does take a little change in the way you vape over the way one smokes, but the difference generally isn't something that will bug most folks making the transition for very long. The eGo is a great system to start on as there are a lot of accessories and ways that you can vape using one. It may take some experimentation to find your sweet spot in feeling really satisfied with vaping on it, but if you stick it out and try out things like Attys and tanks, you will eventually find something that works well for you. I think you have a rig that will start you on your way. Good luck with this. There will probably be some other folks that drop in and give you some great advice as well. :)

Good luck my friend!

I am just slightly ahead of you in terms of last analogue.

I started off with a disposable Blu, then went to a starter Halo G6 kit.

I love it but today I got an ego-u with an additional GS V-core tank. I love it.

The reason I started looking at something with a little more battery and tank is because in the evenings I like to vape quite a bit and it just fits that need better for me.

Its kinda like the G6's are my daytime device and the ego is my evening vape. I guess we are on kind of the same page there.

Weird about the harshness first part of your day tho.

HI Greens and welcome to ECF.

eGo is a great battery. The harshness you are experiencing comes either from your juice or from the head (clearo or carto) that you are using. Some of those tanks, especially the top-coil ones, have sometimes trouble wicking properly which results in dry hits--vaping on a dry coil, basically!

Do you know what kind of clearo you have?

And yes, adding VG (make sure it's Pharma Grade--USP) will make your juice taste milder and improve vapor production.

Fellow noob here! Welcome, Greens.

I picked up the ego you have now as my first kit. Picked up a second ego battery like you have, but it came with a T2 blow tank, which also has wicks (albeit looks pretty different). Holding off on judging them yet, and I'll explain why at the end.

Yesterday I picked up an ego twist, which gives a bit more battery life and the "twist" is a small dial at the bottom that adjusts the voltage. Today I snagged the ego v passthrough, which essentially does the same thing in a digital fashion. Both have a tank with cartomizer.

I picked up both at vape shops. The other two were at smoke shops, with tons of glass pipes. Know what I'm saying? The strictly vape shops had better juice, and I got to sample whatever I wanted. Free puffs of juice? Sign my .... up!

Anyway, with decent juice, a tank/cartomizer, and a better battery....I get to vape how I want. Went to a buddy's house for dinner tonight. Little kids running around. Gear is in my pocket. I go outside with the dial cranked up, and hit it like I'm smoking the real deal. Couple hits on the hour, like smoking.

Come time to leave, I dial down the voltage quite a bit and hit it periodically while driving. I can vape more without it affecting my throat and giving me a headache or anything, cause I dialed it way down.

This kind of flexibility is awesome for me. I can jack up the voltage when I need that real smoke feel. I can dial it down when it's totally habit, like driving or several puffs after a meal. Just works for me.

The first two wick systems? They have some poor juice in them from the smoke shops. Maybe it needs to steep, maybe I hate the juice, maybe it's the wicks, maybe it's the lower voltage. I have to reserve judgement. Some people love them. I found something that works better for me. Eventually I'll tweak with those wickers and figure them out, or at least figure out if I like them.

Tl;Dr: get a variable voltage battery, or a low voltage one with a tank and some decent juice. Made a huge difference for me.

If that juice was harsher than a cig or blu somethings wrong .There r vendors out there that will let you customize the pg/vg ratio. N i found straight off untwisting my wicks on my ce4v2 made all the diff in the world for wicking . If you're running reg ce4 non rebuildable i suggest buying something rebuildable and different ohm atty heads to see what ya like. A decent tank n juice is what's up. careful too much vg have harder time wicking= burnt nasty dry hits ... Peace
