I just took the leap to rebuild able Mec mod and I'm not sure I like it I find I'm choking when I hit it and my vape production is slim to none I'm running a single coil and organic cotton (set up by vape shop) I thought I'd enjoy the big clouds and better flavor the the vision spinner with duel coil but I find I'm not getting massive clouds or good flavor I'm just coking help!

My first mod was also a 26650 Mech Mod (Copper Mutant with a copper Tobh V2). I was choking on 0mg liquid at first but learned how to properly inhale the clouds. Also, dripping 6mg hits like 12mgs on drippers.

Try rebuilding with thicker wires, I've found 26 guage kanthal a1 at 5-7 wraps with proper wicking produces the best vapor/flavor on 26650 attys.

Owning and using a dvom or at least an ohm meter isn't optional when using a mech / rba.
Without having a way to accurately measure resistance you have no way to know if you're exceeding the continuous discharge rate (CDR) of the batteries you use or if the resistance has changed or a screw has come loose.
Without a way to measure voltage you have no way to ensure you don't over discharge the batteries, which will shorten their life.

You gotta keep the cotton wet, soaked.

If you are going to be operating a mech mod and rebuilding you need to educate yourself on battery safety, ohm's law, amp draw, etc.

For an education on mods and rebuildables I highly recommend you spend some time with Baditude (our resident battery expert) and visit his blogs. Baditudes Blogs. The blogs regarding mods and rebuildables are listed below:

BATTERIES

9. Battery Basics for Mods: IMR or Protected ICR?
* Another essential read to understand which batteries are safe to use in mechanical and regulated mods. Includes a frequently updated list of recommended safe-chemistry, high-drain batteries with their specifications.

11. Deeper Understanding of Mod Batteries Part 1
* For those who want to learn the differences between IMR, IMR/hybrid, and ICR batteries. What do those numbers and letters on batteries mean? What's an amp rating?

12. Deeper Understanding of Mod Batteries Part 2
* Protected vs unprotected batteries - what's the difference? Ohm's Law 101. What is an AW battery? What is an inline fuse? What is stacking batteries?

17. Purple Efest Batteries Not As Advertised
* A cautionary blog that reveals that the purple Efest batteries may not have the specifications advertised. Also includes a commentary on "continuous discharge ratings" vs "pulse discharge ratings" of battery specs.

OHM'S LAW

14. Ohm's Law for Dummies (Vapers)
* My attempt at explaining Ohm's Law in layman terms and how it relates to vaping.

16. Explain it to the Dumb Noob: Ohm's Law Calculations
* As simple as it is to use, some people have a tough time grasping the concept. Warning: Includes graphic photos of mod explosions.

MECHANICAL MODS & REBUILDABLES

7. Information Resources for Your First RBA
* An essential read and reference guide for someone new to rebuilding coils. Includes a multitude of useful links on battery safety, mod safety, coil meters, coil building, and the differences in the three types of RBA's.

15. Inexpensive Mechanical Mod and RDA Setup
* A response to the frequently asked question on how to get into rebuildable atomizers with a mechanical mod inexpensively. Includes a list of commonly used tools and supplies for rebuilding and where to find them.

BATTERIES - WHERE TO BUY

Only buy batteries from a reputable supplier (not ebay or Amazon) as there are many counterfeit batteries being sold. Here are several reputable battery suppliers in the US.

* RTD Vapor
* Illumination Supply
* Lighthound
* Orbtronics

What RDA/RTA do you have?

Your battery has a 20 amp limit.
At 3.7 volts, you can build coils safely at 0.4 ohms that would produce 9.25 amps. Coils at 0.3 ohms would produce 12.3 amps.

steam-engine.org/coil.asp is a good place to see how many wraps at what gauge you need to find your resistance.

Coil calculator are a good tool but they do not replace a dvom / ohm meter, all coils should be checked / confirmed before being fired on a mechanical.

You should always use the fully charged voltage of 4.2v in calculations.
4.2v / .3 = 14a.
4.2v / .4 = 10.5a
