First mech mod buy?

So basically what would you guys recommend as a good first mech mod? I was thinking something like a hcigar stingray x clone or fasttech pegasus clone but didn't know if there might be something better for the money. Also note Im going to be using it with an asipre atlantis and 18650VTC4 sony batteries since I really don't want to worry with rebuilding coils and what not but still want a good amount of vapor.

I personally prefer the SXK Stingray X over the HCigar. Others will probably say the prefer HCigar. My opinion is the machining is better on the SXK. And it has silver plated copper contacts. IIRC the HCigar has bare copper. Best buy I've seen on the SXK is the Focalecig US warehouse.

While the Stingray X is IMO the best, I'd go with Infinite. Hiwever, the Stingray X is a PIA with it's spin it a million times locking ring. For a "first" Mech Mod, I'd recommend a Manhattan. No locking ring needed.

Personally, I think the Smoktech Magneto is about the best mech for the money. Telescoping, to accommodate everything from 18350 to 18650. Nice magnet switch, too.

Would have to agree here. The switch is also very smooth. Been using the magneto maybe 8 months with no problems whatsoever. Still like brand new.

My vote is for the SXK Stingray X. Awesome mod. Love mine. Unless your RBA has a 10 foot long 510 connector it isn't too bad to unlock with the ring, plus its buttery smooth, I routinely unlock mine with my pinky finger while driving.

The whole resetting the button so it won't fly off daily thing kind of nullifies the lock ring for me. Although I do love my fuhattan.

The flagahip by smk mods is the best mech ive used by far! Only around $100 for a usa built authentic. Its built like the manhattan except all the kinks are worked out. Only mod i use now, and i have a manhattan, rig, smpl, and buster for authentics. They all collect dust.

if it's your very first mech mod and you decide to go with hybrid.. be very careful how you choose your atty and how you use your battery so you don't short the whole thing out.

I am in the market for something new as well. I have been rebuilding for a while, I just got a new Doge RDA and its sitting on a panzer, but I really want a new mod. Just not sure. I kinda want a V3 Flip but not sure.

Same reason i said the flagship. A hybrid like the smpl can short out a battery if the atty center pin is not set properly.

Of the ones I have the HCigar Nemesis is the most versatile, there are just so many different ways that it can be set up & work well.
I would rate my brass HCigar Caravela best overall when used as a pure mechanical.
And my brass HCigar Chi You, hands down, hits the hardest, but it's "clunky" when compared to the other two.

There's no rule the OP has to use the hybrid connector. It comes with a top cap as well. Can always put the hybrid connector aside until s/he is more confident.

This is why I was leaning towards the stingray as well, it came with both so you have options down the road and it makes it convenient. The stingray also has a respectable hit. Actually this bloody thread made me put my Sigelei away for the day and I'm rockin the X with my CLT in hybrid mode

For first mod you want solid top and bottom pins....No direct connects or springs in the top pin.


I like the Nemesis or SMPL designs.


I'm looking for an authentic Caravella.
