I have ordered from fasttech the nemesis clone & a kick. I understand how important it is to get the right batteries, can anyone suggest some 18500 and 18350 IMR. I'm not sure which ones will best fit the mod or the best place to get them from. I also need a charger. I will not be using sub ohm coils.

I have been reading about mechanical mods and I know to check the battery for shorts, check atomisers, don't charge battery's too full or let them go below the permitted discharge voltage.

Is there anything else I should know and can anyone suggest a good multimeter, I don't trust mine.

The best batteries are probably AW. These won't be available on ebay or general sites. (they'll be fake).

You'd have to go to a quality e-cig vendor.

I have 2 x efest 18350 and they are not exactly good.
I am trying to buy a pair of nice 18500 (18490) for my Nemesis.

Mostly, I use 18650s. I use cheap Panasonics in VV/VW mods (Vamo/SID) and IMR AWs and Sony VTC5 in my mechanicals.

For the current best prices, I would ask on AAEC UK.

have you considered running it in 18650 mode.... I do this... the extra battery life is worth the extra few cms... :)

Will the 18650 fit with a kick?

Will I really need 35 amps on coils over 1.5 ohms?

30+ amps will be below .14 ohm coil.

Also, I'd just get the sony VTC5 batteries. You can use the nemesis with the kick in 18650 mode and it works as long as you have all 3 tubes on it. And if you want to remove the kick later on and go sub ohm all you have to do is take off the smallest tube and use the VTC5. :D I use VTC5/VTC4's in both my nemesis and stingray clones and they work fantastic.

No, but the 30 amp vtc5s and 20 (or so) amp purple Efests (they're not 35a)/LG he2s are still a good choice. They have minimal voltage drop (low internal resistance) and have more of their capacity in the useful voltage region's (pretty much everything below 3.5v is useless with mech mods). Due to that, these batteries tend to outlast higher capacity batteries with a lower amp rating, even at lower amp draws.

If the vent holes are not exposed (covered up by the locking ring) the battery will vent through the switch. If you remove it you should notice channels cut into the threads of the brass piece on the switch--this would allow the battery to vent without turning your mod into a pipe bomb. Hope that makes sense. What batteries did you end up getting? Regardless of sub-ohming I would still recommend AW IMR batteries.

Maybe I will just take your advice then and get the sony vtc5. Are these the right ones?

Sony VTC5 2600mAh 30 Amp Battery

Not sure why it says vtc4 in the link but the page says vtc5.

I'll get a pair of those and forget about the other sizes. The only reason I wanted the smaller batts was for a smaller mod but then it wouldn't last as long so not worth it I don't think.

What do you think of this charger?

In the future when I get more batteries, does this charger allow you to charge different sizes at the same time?

I can't comment on the VTC4/5 as I don't use them, only AW IMRs but yes that charger will allow you to charge pretty much any battery from 16340-18650 (possibly even 26650).

FWIW, I use AW IMR 18350s in my nemesis with a ~1.0Ohm coil and generally get AT LEAST 4 hours of solid vaping out of them. When I want more run time I use an 18500 and generally that will double my vape time. An 18650 will probably last you 1-2 days depending on your vaping style with a 1.5Ohm+ coil

Sorry. I've missed a lot of this thread.

I use AWs and VTCs in my Nemesis. 30A is not necessary, but better too good if it's not too expensive.

Speaking entirely personally, I wouldn't buy anything from the place you are looking. I'd rather pay more than give them a penny of my money.

(They are generally over-priced, but not in this case..)

4 hours on a 18350 sounds good for out and about when I like something smaller. I probably will get a pair eventually.

I REALLY like the black nemesis on Vapegeek, maybe I will try and get a refund from FT. I can imagine it will be expensive to send it back though.

In the end I have bought a pair of the Sony VTC5s and a Nitecore i4 from myepack since I needed other things too.

Thanks for all the help.

Personally on my nemesis clone I use my sony 18650 30A battery. These batteries are spendy but you can get cheaper ones from mtbaker if you like. And for a charger I use a nitecore intellicharger. I am very pleased with my setup, just remember you get what you pay for...

I couldn't agree more
