Many people will use an atomizer for testing flavors, just drip a few drops onto it and try it out. How you clean the atomizer after varies, some will just add a bit of VG or PG and vape until the flavor goes away, others do different things.

Myself, I like cartos, don't mind using one to try something new. Cartos can be cleaned reasonably well, via hot water or ultrasonic cleaner. I'll typically use a cleaned carto to test a new flavor.

I used cartos testing flavors for a bit (it was all I had) and there are some flavors that just don't want to clean out ..... clove, any cinnamon, cherry sticks FOREVER ..... I've tried spinning and rinsing, but the original flavor still lingers. I just got attys yesterday, and even though they are more $, they are SO much easier to clean when testing flavors you may not like. (I have over 10 cartos I just can't get clean enough to reuse .... probably have to boil them. UGH! Too much like cooking ...)
