First purchase of proper ecig - clearomiser and 'bits' advice needed!

It's been busy since I last posted, cheers for all the advice, really useful.

Annoying, I've been working away from home this week, which is frustrating knowing that all my kit is ready for collection and I can't get to it! But back home tomorrow!

However, some positive news, I went to the supermarket yesterday having run out of baccy and decided rather than my usual, I'd get one of the 10 motives disposables to tide me over until Friday/Saturday when I should be able to go collect. I don't really rate them as a disposable, they seem fine for about equivalent of 5 cigarette breaks then just go quite weak, that said, it'll make me appreciate the quality more when I move on to my istick! But it does mean it's an extra couple of days away from rollies, which can't be a bad thing!

Thanks again all, no doubt when I've had a bit of time with it, i'll give my thoughts and that on here. And then I imagine i'll follow Cowboy192's advice on the topic of getting some ET-S for flavour swapping.

One question that has sprung to mind though, if I use up all my liquid and then swap over to an alternative, does the previous flavour linger around for long? Or do you kind of need to cycle flavours when you replace atomisers?

10 Motives claim that one disposable is up to 40 cigarettes.... 5 or 6 good sessions is a result if you ask me. (Isn't that terrible... the things they say...)

oh yeah DJS, they seem a complete scam, i've had them before I was using the previous ecigs, but frankly, it's more of a win than if I had picked up a pack of tobacco! I vaped some 24mg today (accident) in a mini Nautilus on an iStick and it blew my head off!

I doubt I could have managed to vape that when I was new to vaping. Far too strong really.

Thought i'd give a bit of an update! Had my istick and nautilus mini combo running for a couple days now, managed to pick it up on Saturday and very impressed, looks great, haven't craved any real cigarettes over it, taken to it nicely and quickly!

However, some more questions (you lucky people!), and I have done a bit of routing around forums and Google, there's quite a bit of noise when vaping, regardless of airflow setting, now, I'm not sure if this would be considered gurgling or not (saw this around a bit) but it's more of a rasp with a bit of crackle, and definitely is louder on the most open airflow. I'm not sure if this is even a problem!

The other question is on the volt settings, I don't fully understand what this really does. I saw that you work with the ohm resistance and there's a 'good' amount, but how do I derermine what is better? At the mo this blows everything I've had previously out the water so I'm happy, but just trying to learn more!

Sorry haven't been able to describe the sound better! Not knowing what's right or wrong makes it a bit trickier!!

With the Nautilus, don't overtighten the base when putting it back on: tighten it then back it off half a turn. I also give the top a half twist and back again. I usually use mine on just the first hole and get very little sound ...a light 'air' sound is all. Since I made sure it wasn't tightened too much and that no air was locked, I haven't had any gurgles or leaks!

With the iStick, I had to get my head around the ohms/watts thing too - set it to use Watts (3 clicks on the fire button does the change-over).

Basically, on full charge, you're getting higher watts than you set it at, lower when 1/3 depleted, lower still at half etc. Now I understand it better, I'm using the 2.0ohm coils and will get my basic Evods out to use some 2.5ohm coils with because I like to use lower watts.

Thanks for replying Pictor I will have to have a play with it, I had it spit a small bit of juice this morning, but that's the first time it's done that. Since getting to work and over lunch it seems alright. I'm always a bit of a worrier when it comes to new toys I don't fully understand!

With the iStick, that reads a little disappointing? Surely the point of variable voltage is being able to vary to volts!! Okay, you can increase it but if there is a voltage floor that is dependent on battery usage, it just seems a little misleading. Although, in the long run, I can't see it really being much a problem for me anyhow.

One thought that came to mind that I couldn't fully suss out from those posts, but I think i'm right. If I am vaping @ 4v and I lose 1/2 battery power (which seems about where i'm at, holds charge v well! - for my consumption at least) I lose 0.6v, so would need to up power to 4.6v to maintain what I was achieving at full battery?

I'm currently running the 1.8ohm coil that came with the nauti (1st one, since saturday) and have been keeping it around the 4v mark. Still trying to ascertain what is really happening when I go above and below 4v. I have been getting a bit of a burnt taste at times, but from what I've been reading, I don't think my situation is all that bad. I will try and check the coil tonight and see if it looks OK. I haven't cleaned or anything like that (bar the few tips knocking around the web for clearing any juice that gets in) and was hoping to coil would last quite some time, especially given I've used half the battery over 5 days or so.

But i'm enjoying it, I seem to be reading up on bits each night, I've just put an order in for 30ml of B Bomb and Trooper Tobacco from General's Juices, who's website I found very entertaining, I read a lot of positive things, especially about B Bomb, so excited for those to arrive!

I'm also about to put an order in for a couple of Aspire ET-S and replacement coil packs for both the ET-S' and the Nautilus.

That should tide me over for a bit

At first it feels poor that the setting isn't what you're using, but once understood, it's no big deal to keep it where you want it. For the price, they're really good - work well and handle well. You can pay the same price for something much more basic.
I always use them in Watts setting though since being advised to, and find it easier to work with.

I always use the MVP2 at 6.5 - 7W so try to use the iSticks at roughly the same by using a lower setting with 1.8 or 2.0ohm coils. Plus I'll get some 2.2 or 2.5 Kanger coils and use those in an Evod or MT3s too because I like to keep the power and liquid use on the lower side.

I did read that there'll be a V2 in the first half of next year, but the first one has been so popular, I don't think they'll be in a rush unless they start developing some sort of problem.
Only thing I've seen for now is to be gentle with the thread and the usb connection socket.

I would say ignore the numbers on the iStick and just adjust it for taste. If it tastes good, you're at the right level. If you get burnt hits lower the wattage by 0.5/voltage by 0.1 (depending on which one you're using).

I'm also using the naughty mini with 1.8Ω coils. I use about 6ml a day on my ADV and the coil will usually last me two weeks. Once again, use how it tastes as an indicator of when you need to change the coil. The flavour becomes muted as it wears out. I also find it will flood as it nears the end of its life.

If you look at the chart linked by Pictor you will see that ignoring the numbers is exactly

what the istick does on a full battery charge, you wont be able to vape at under 11 watts

until the battery charge falls correspondingly (about 2/3 depleted)

Whilst the battery is fully charged if you vape on a 2.5ohm coil

@ 11 watts you should get about the same performance as a 1.8 ohm

coil @ 8 watts (ohms law) which is about the standard for most clearos

I'm happy now I understand it better - I'm using a 2.0ohm coil in a MOW and the iStick is at around 1/2 charge ..I can lower the Watts to 4.5 at this stage, and can feel the difference. I'm still pretty much OK at up to 5.5W when fully charged.
If I use too much liquid, I get congestion.

Using mine in watts mode, it does show 3.1V when set at 4.5W with a 2.0ohm coil. Certainly good at that level for me.
It's certainly proved itself so far. I've spent nearly the same on much lesser batteries in the past, and a few have stopped charging fully now.
I really like the size, and yet the decent weight means you can set it down and it stays put.
Charges fairly quickly too.

True, and I do try to catch them before they run out completely. I keep a spare charged too.

10 watts for me on my naughty. But that's vaping 50/50 juices like GCR.
Different juice viscosity will also mean different voltage or wattage settings to to get that sweet spot. Start off low (especially with a new coil) and go up from there.

I'm still plodding along - been too involved with all of this e-cig & liquid stuff instead of my work! Lack of focus and concentration isn't helping ...think it's still my brain trying to get used to the lack of tobacco stimulation after decades of being fuelled by it! ...at least I got past a year!

My nature vape mini arrived today. It's a bit fiddly compared to using a nautilus. It's very small and feels a bit fragile but the vape on this is powerful. Really powerful as its a 1.4 ohm micro coil with organic cotton wick. The coils themselves are very well made and sturdy. They last months and it's super easy to thread more wick (a ball of cotton is supplied with the tank) and it's just dry burn and re-wick.

Now I'm not the greatest at re-building but wicking these is a doddle. The cotton gives TONS of flavour. Even though it's a single coil, it packs more than any dual or bvc I've used.

My only gripe is that the filling holes are tiny and you need needle tip bottled to fill the tanks.

Service is fantastic though. 2 days from Norfolk to Wales.
