Hey guys! Got some shinies coming in the mail, ordered a SmokTech Magneto, sigelei Kick, Igo L & W, and an AGA T2. Main questions are about the kick.

I have some efest and AW IMR 18350s, and I know a lot of people are suggesting to use the AW IMR with the kick, I have 2 AW IMR 18350s and 18650s, and 2 Efest IMR 18350s. Question is, should I decide to get the Efest 18500s (flat tops), would they work? Or would I be better off getting the AW IMR 18500s? I'm gonna be ordering a Kicklet next paycheck so I can use my 18650s with the Kick, would it be safe to assume that the Kicklet will work on the Magneto based solely on the 510 threading?

Main point being, in the end, flat top or button tops for the Kick, and if I decide to use the Magneto without the kick, again, flat top or button tops? I don't plan on using anything NOT IMR in my Magneto, even though I have the grey Panasonic battery (don't have model number on hand, 2250 mAh 10 AMP ones), would those be safe, or just stick with IMR?

I don't plan on venturing into sub ohm quite yet, I'm comfortably wrapping 1.5 to 1.9 ohm coils in my RSST, so I'll save that for another post. Thanks in advance, and happy vaping!

I've personally had much better results with the AW 18350 IMR's than the Efests. I've only used AW 18650 IMR's, no Efests in the 18650 size and never plan to.

The Panasonic you are referring to is a hybrid IMR, if I'm not mistaken. I've been using my first one on its first cycle, so I can't comment on it yet.

Whether you use flat or button top batteries depends upon the particular APV that you are using and what the manufacturer recommends. Some can only use one or the other, and with others it doesn't matter.

The Smoktech Magneto is a new mod, so it probably isn't listed in this battery/mod compatibility chart:

Edit: Looking at this review, reviewer is using flat top batteries in the Magneto, and looking at the inner battery contacts could probably use a button top battery, too. Since no owner's manual came with the reviewer's Magneto, its important to note that the positive end of the battery should point to the bottom activated switch. It also does not use a collapsable hot spring. Allegedly has vent holes inside the mod (?). If not using a Kick, I'd highly suggest using a Vape Safe Mod Fuse in this device, and recommend reading the resource links on battery and mod safety here.

Thanks for the read! I went ahead and snagged myself a Vapesafe Fuse should the Magneto arrive before my Kick does. Might also grab a Crown to see which one I prefer, but I'll probably snag a second Mechanical not too far down the road. Also went with some AW IMR 18490s since the place I grabbed the batteries from was out of the 18500s (still gonna get some 18500s to have a full set of AW IMRs). I'm just going to play it safe and use the AWs in my Mech, my Panasonics will stay with my eVic and Vamo 3.

I use to use all aw imr batteries but since my coils are running below 1.2 ohms i find especially with 18350 and 18500 that the amp draw is heating the batteries up..

The panasonic hybrids are protected and high amp drain.. I have the kick clone but it caps watts at 10 where some of my builds are running over 20 watts

Also over kill using the panasonics in already protected devices

True, but I'd rather be safe than sorry. If PCB'd batteries fit in my protected devices, I'd so totally use those too. And some Vape Safe Fuses, think I should totally get some more of those. Maybe even double up?
An extra layer of safety doesn't hurt anything, especially in a mod that you are holding in your hand and up to your face multiple times a day. If the technology is available to be safer, why not use it?

So just to get this straight, at this point the PCB Panasonics are superior in safety to IMR (although IMR is generally the safest beyond a doubt)

Are these the PANASONIC NCR18650B LI-ION BATTERY 3400mAh 3.7v batteries? Thanks

I have the same Pan batt would also like to know if it is one of the safest for a mech mod.
