I know the Patriot is well known for being easy to build on, but this is my first time building any coils of my own and I need to know what I'm doing wrong. I have these coils using 6-7 wraps, the leads going in the holes and all. I'll get anywhere from .4 to 3.1 ohms when the middle screw isn't screwed down, but it goes back to 0.0 when everything is as it should be. Is there something I'm missing?

I know they're probably not really pretty, but they won't even fire.

I've made sure nothing is touching anything but the posts they belong in. All the excess coming out the other side of the holes, I've trimmed off. I really tried getting it neat and keeping it from touching the atty, so I don't think that's it. There have been a couple of times when It did fire, but I can't get it do it it consistently (or more importantly, when the middle screw is in).

I'm not exactly sure how to check if the insulator needs replacing, and I definitely don't know how to go about doing that. I also don't think over tightening the screws is the problem.

Now I'm having a different issue. It reads .6ohms, and yet it still doesn't fire. Instead, the button on my iTaste stays lit green without any pressure and goes off after a few seconds.

Edit: Now .4 ohms, still nothing. I have no clue what's going on. I feel like I should also point out that I had a friend of mine build the coils on this atty previously, and only now am I changing them. The old ones worked like a charm.

9 wraps 30 ga. kanthal 1.59mm ID. 1.7 ohms net build. Rayon wicks. Start simple and then progress to more fancier builds. Single coils are more stable IMO than duals and in the right configuration can produce a superb vape just like duals at lower power.

IMO the iTaste VV is underpowered for the low ohm dual coil builds.
