First time coil builder

So I can't seem to find everything for me to really start building my own coils. I feel like I can do it but there are still a few questions that I don't seem to get answers for. Basically I know ohms law and such but I still don't know how many wraps I should do and why I should do that. My first coil was a 6 wrap, not sure about the gadge or size because I was using sraps and a wrapping jig, but it came out as .3 ohms. Can anyone direct me to some kind of 101 or guide that will explain everything on basic coils and not just "how to wrap wire around a screwdriver"?

Yeah, I wrap all kinds of different coils, size and gauge wise depending on the atty and mod. More information is needed.
