Hello all -

I've quickly become absorbed into this alternative to smoking :) I am really enjoying all aspects of this, with the small exception of the cost :p

I knew going into this it was going to cost a lot more than convential smoking up front, but eventually would either even out or prove to be a cheaper (and most importantly) healthier alternative.

One thing that I have noticed is that e-liquid from the major vendors out there seems to be expensive! And I have had a bad experience purchasing some e-liquid that just didn't like my PV (Janty Stick/Janty Mini Fogger). I am hoping to remedy this by mixing my own e-liquid.

So far, from all the threads that I have read, I am going to need a concentrated base liquid with nicotine, and it doesn't matter what strength I pick so long as I use a calculator to cut it down to my desired level. (Right now I am enjoying a happy medium between 16mg and 11mg levels.) I am also going to need some zero nicotine base liquid (USP grade vegetable glycerine seems to be easily obtained), and then possible flavorings (many have mentioned Lorann flavoring).

I know that I will need a syringe to measure the liquids, and I suspect I will also need some bottles to hold my concoctions in. Any suggestions for sizes? I am thinking some 15ml/30ml bottles for sure, some 3ml bottles to take with to work.

Right now I am eyeballing the 48mg unflavored e-liquid from myfreedomsmokes.com, which I will cut down to 12mg with NOW Foods brand Vegetable Glycerine (it says USP and Food Grade).

Am I missing anything?

That sounds like a good list. I've gotten all of that except for the high strength liquid. Have to wait a few weeks for money for that. Until then I've been playing with flavor mixes and found that I actually enjoy vaping 0 strength sometimes. Or use the flavors I got mixed with glycerin to change the flavor a little of the e-juice I already had. I bought Bickfords which has all natural flavors. I think next time I will spring for the full strength "oils" (the one's that match withthe water soluble flavors don't actually have oil in them) that cost about twice as much, but aren't cut with PG. I found that the Apple Maple from there tastes like pancakes and the Vanilla Butternut is fantastic and works well added to all of the flavors of e-liquid I had.

Yep, that's one of the big hold-ups for me as well, this past week I've probably dropped $350 on starter kits, liquids and accessories. I guess I should be happy that I decided that DIY liquid is something I'd like to try before I got too far in :)

Going to go to Michaels today to see what I can pick up without breaking the bank.

I'm thinking of starting a money jar to save up for the concentrated unflavored juice. $5.50x2 every day will put enough for a liter in no time ;)
