I'd second the IPro. I own notcigs original Infinity and Buzz pro, both are rock solid, stellar customer service. My Infinity has taken a boatload of drops onto concrete, takes a beating. The dial voltage adjustment is really easy to use. For quality and performance I believe it is comparable to much higher priced units. I get 6 - 7 ml of vaping time, using 2.5 - 3.1 ohm cartos at about 8W power, between battery swaps. (I prefer to talk ml than hours, since how often we use these things varies.)

Buzz has an IPro sale running, unit with charger and one pair of batteries for $110, a solid deal. I'd add a second pair of batteries, then use his "ECF Buzzkill" coupon code.

If you're ever interested in carto tanks, his M1A1 coupled with Ikenvape fusion 2.5 ohm cartos really makes vaping easy, low maintenance.

I will second this. I was in for less than $50 after buying batteries and the unit has been rock-solid. No bells or whistles, and I may upgrade at some point, but I can vouch for the device.

Hi residentpirate, I too am new and just recently bought the madvapes vv box mod, it is a cheap way to try the vv before you jump in with both feet. I'm really liking mine

I have no clue on the build or overall performance of the LavaTube, but if the price is even close to that of the IPro, the IPro has a solid pedigree.

I like the IPro due to its performance, run time between charges, durability, ease of use (just the simple voltage adjust wheel, and unscrew the bottom cap slightly for a positive "off"), well known quality customer service, and excellent price compared to the Provari or other higher end VV/VP.

Provari is a shrug to me. It has a loyal following, undoubtedly deserved. Provari has a screen (not something I care about, and people have had to do replacements on them -- even if under warranty, your PV is gone while it goes to the shop), a multi-click user interface (sounds like a PITA, but that's just me), not sure about the battery life unless you go to the plus-sized batteries with extenders, is generally heavy (from what I've been told), noticeably higher price point (any PV should be fully kitted out, with a couple sets of batteries, charger, to do a price comparison). Whether something is a feature or a hindrance depends on what a user wants in a PV, truly subjective. I'm sure the screen adds to price, so if you want it it is worth it; in my case I don't care about the precise voltage readout, or being able to check atty resistance on the run. People I know and respect do own Provaris, just wasn't for me.

+1 to Dozer and the Madvapes VV box.

Variable voltage has its advantages but it might not be for everybody. The $35 you spend on a Madvapes box gets you an excellent value intro to the world of VV. If you decide you like it then you can start looking at mid-level mods (Buzz, Infinity etc) or high-end (Darwin, Provari).

IMHO, the Lavatube is just too new to be able to say that it represents solid value for a newcomer. It is mass-produced in China and although initial reports are very encouraging we have no idea yet over its longer term reliability or warranty support.

My 2c worth...

My first vv I purchased was a provari and I admit that I truly like it. It does have some flaws, I have used tanks that leaked and the juice went in to the unit and stopped it from firing. That was a quick fix with alcohol though. The unit will send an error to stop you firing a lr atomizer with highvoltage though. The reg 18490 batteries last me 4 or 5 hours and I refuse to make this mod any larger. Also I do not like pressing the button 10+ time to do certain funtions on the pv. I feel the button will have to be replaced in a couple of years or sooner if you use this pv everyday and switch voltages or check the ohms on your atomizers. The price can stop some from buying it, but it's common to see it on sale in the classifieds for less money.

i've using the lavatube for 8days now. and due to my vaping habit, i havent change the battery yet o.0. which i'm quite surprised. provari has a relatively short batt life cuz i didn't get the extender cap which in my case doesn't matter cuz it stays at home clothed and in a nice cushion lol~ lavatube goes out to take some knocks.
some flaws with lavatube are superficial. i have already given my feedback to a to-be-local supplier for lavatube. the connection is a lil slanted but it doesn't leak and only obvious with u mount a tank system like a ce2 or arry tank etc. just slightly only. the red paint from the master power switch is starting to come off. no biggy either. the connection is also a lil higher which means it doesn't flush to the top of the body. no big deal too. overall for the price, i think its a good vv mod and albeit longer, its lighter than provari. i still prefer my provari due to the feel and solidness of it which is the main reason its a home vape and lavatube a work vape.
