First time vaping... Explosion sound?

Hi all,

So I bought my Halo Triton starter pack about 2 days ago and it arrived today.
Since I had a friend of mine who was already vaping for about 2 years or so (who also recommended
the Halo Triton starter pack) , I brought it to his house and let him help me out a bit with the settings and whatnot.

When I tried to vape... A small explosion sound came out from the triton.
No, it was not a gurgling sound nor a bubbling sound, it sounded like a single firework.
Can't really explain this sound.. but it really did felt like a small explosion sound.

I got scared because the sound was pretty big and kept happening randomly. Another thing was that
after that "single fireworks" sound, I could actually see a vapor coming out from the mouth piece by itself.
It was just as if seeing an explosion and then seeing those gases coming out.

Also, the tank got really hot too, although I was just holding down the button for only 5 seconds.
I can actually see the steam inside the tank lol
No, I didn't chain vape... I didn't even vape because the tank got so hot I just had to put it down on the ground.
The friend of mine told me he set it up, just as how he was vaping for 2 years. Well, he was using
Halo Triton starter pack as well, so I'm pretty sure this is not on his end..

Another cartomizer and the battery we've tried just kept blinking for 5~6 times, altho the battery was
fully charged, and was "on". Again, this cartomizer and the battery was also set up by my friend.

-------------------------------------

So i'm really curious about this. I've read"gurgling" sounds and "bubbling" sounds from this forum while I was
googling, but an explosion sound? Vapor coming out from the mouthpiece by itself? Cartomizer tank getting really
hot after pressing the button for only 5 seconds for once?

What is happening and is it safe for me to vape this thing? Or should I just call the customer service?

Hi greensunggwa and welcome to ECF.

If the sound was as loud as a firecracker is, you have a problem. Stop using it and call customer service.

If it was just a surprise to you and it's really not nearly that loud, I'm not worried about it. A new, clean atty will make those sounds. You should not be firing the atty for 5 seconds without taking a drag. Doing that will cause vapor to come out of it. The vapor has to go somewhere and you're not inhaling it ;)

Also, the tank got really hot too, although I was just holding down the button for only 5 seconds.

If you held the button down for one 5 second push only, it should not get that hot. If that is what happened, something is wrong , call customer service.

I think the blinking means the resistance of the coil is too low, or it has a short. Don't use that carto and call customer service. Hmm, I thought these devices usually come with a clearomizer. Is it really a carto?

Good luck with it!

Sounds like who ever built the coil , had a short. Did they use a ohm reader BEFORE putting it on your unit? Ohm readers are very important for that reason. By the unit getting really hot and the vapor it tells me It likely was a short in the build. Which could have been prevented if tested on a ohm reader prior to fireing. As far as the sound goes, I'm not sure exactly..maybe part of the wire shorting out? I've experienced a short once, and never heard a sound but the symptoms were the same. Very hot and continuing to heat farther.it's very scarey. Don't let it scare you away though because if you take some precautions before hand like using a ohm reader, you will be able to tell if you have a short and know not to fire it and fix the problem. You can get a good ohm reader with a 510 connection fairly cheap off amazon. Com. That's where I got mine from. Just know in the future to place your build on the ohm reader. It will tell you if you have a short AND let you know the resistance of your coil. This is very important because all batteries have a limit. Know the limitations of your battery and do the formula for ohms law to know if your build is going to exceed those limitations of your battery. You don't ever want to exceed those limitations which are different depending on your battery. Because the battery will over work and a chemical reaction within the battery can begin to happen and the battery will vent and can possibly even explode if the reaction continues. So be safe. Know these things and take steps to prevent any problems before they happen. These safty steps will become second nature to you.don't let this frighten you from building. Just take these precautions to be safe. I really hope this helps you out. Best wishes.
