Just got an innokin vv 3.0 arrive this morning, with some Temptation and Hedges juice (24mg). Loaded it up to try and it tasted just as bad as it smelt. Not sure how to describe it really, similar to methylated spirits. I guess it's mainly the taste of nicotine powering through? Either way, it's far from tobacco like and moons away from being enjoyable. The hit was pretty big though, i can definitely see potential.

Having read through a load of stuff i'm guessing (hoping) it just needs a good steeping. Should i have also soaked the new equipment in boilng water or something first? I'm using an iclear 16 clearomiser.

In the meantime i think i'm gonna buy a new clearomiser or two, and some nice fruit flavoured juices which will hopefully taste nice straight out the bottle. Is this a normal beginning for a newbie?

Hi Meltedman,

My first ego starter kit I walked out of the store with, "Grapefuldead". The tasting bar at this store had no samples that hit home so I hurried out with this horrendous, nasty grape juice.

I soon found some tobacco flavors that worked.

My point? Give it time, try many and you'll find something. It's very subjective. Sometimes acquired and always changing as your taste buds are improving back to the norm.

LMAO, that sounds so familiar
The bottle of juice that I bought with my first e-cig tasted just like siphoning a gas tank. So I learned real quick that I wouldn't like every flavor.
Like most I figured that it just had to taste like what I smoked. Little did I know that there is only one way to make tobacco taste like burning tobacco, and that's to burn it. What is easy to duplicate are the common flavors added to tobacco tho'. So look for flavors like RY4 (caramel tobacco) or 555 (hazelnut tobacco) if you still want tobacco flavors.

    :)

It's not the nicotine....it's the flavour. You'll find some are great, others will taste awful. I doubt steeping will help, unless it's recently handmade liquid.

I don't normally soak anything new, I quick rinse, yes.

Well i only ordered it yesterday and they say it's made to order i think. Think it may only be just over 24 hrs old..

I had a similar experience to you. I discovered however, for me the problem was the iclear. The hits that I get from it are way too strong and it makes all of my liquid taste like burnt chemicals. At first I thought it was the juice I was using, but after about 10 different juices, I realized that it was the tank. I tried a carto-tank instead and that was it!! All the bad burnt taste was gone!! I was relieved to know that I didn't buy a ton of horrible juices from several different vendors. Try switching out your iclear with something else and see if that doesn't help.
    Good luck and welcome!!!!

Try NET (naturally extracted juice) based liquid when you are first coming off of regular cigarettes. If I had started with those types it would have been even easier then "really easy".

Quick Nic juice has very tasty juice, they probably will ship to you.
The tobacco juices commonly found are just synthetic attempts at reproducing cigarette flavor.

Which, they do, if you were to open up a pack of cigarettes, place one in your mouth and commenced to chew it up filter and all. :D

    Welcome and good luck !

All of the NET liquids I've tried--including a couple of disastrous DYI attempts--were all horrible. I still have a couple of bottles of some of the storebought NET stuff and they're still blech weeks after purchase. There may be some good to great ones out there but they eluded me and I quit chasing them.

Try a few sweet flavours, I thought if would want tobacco flavours but it turns out I prefer sweet and fruit flavours. Get lots of small sampler bottles. Joose Juice has some cheap 10ml samplers in the UK and they get get decent reviews on here.

Steeping will probably help, but there are a few things to remember. Number one would be steeping. The next step is knowing how to take a hit from your e cig. You should hit the e cig much more slowly and softly that an analog, but longer.

There are some great tobacco flavors out there. Unfortunately, there are quite a few horrid ones too. If you are interested in vaping some more tobacco flavors, I would recommend you look for vendors that use naturally extracted tobacco (NET) in their flavorings. I could give you some good links, but you should see what the people on the UK forum use. All the flavors that I like are from American vendors. It is ridiculous, but many of the 'tobacco' flavors out there have no tobacco used for the flavoring.

I would really recommend you check out some RY4s. RY4 was originally made by a Chinese company, but many vendors have taken their own spin on it. The flavor itself is tobacco, vanilla, and caramel. However, there are many differing variations. Some are mostly tobacco with a bit of caramel and vanilla, while others are more of a desert type of vape. It just depends. Anyway, I stayed away from it when I first got started, but now I really enjoy it. It gives me a bit of tobacco, but the other flavors in it meld into something else.

Thanks for all the replies. UK forum link should be useful.

I had read about tobacco flavours being more difficult to reproduce, think i'll go for some strawberry or something similar :)

t.b.h. it's impossible to make a liquid that tastes the same as tobacco smoke. However, we all have to choose a flavour (or 100!) to vape. I like most liquids, but it takes the right mind-set to ask yourself - does it taste nice, is it smokey and satisfying?

I have 10+ decent "tobacco" liquids. I have also given away/binned at least 20 that just tasted too horrible, even for me. It's not a good return on the investment... too much trial and error.

Mostly, I vape a few "tobacco", plenty of citrus fruits + mango, the odd cherry, sometimes menthol, sometimes custard!

Also note - many vendors make your juice when ordered, and some - in particular tobacco's and in my experience vanillas - need TIME to sit. Some flavorings have an alcohol base that I think needs to evaporate out, and many just change over time from sitting. This STEEPING can really change the flavor. So you may want to just set that first juice aside, order some new stuff, and start seeking what you like!!

Since you mentioned fruit, I'd recommend trying out NicQuid - they're really good with sweet flavors, and while they're a little pricey and have limited selections - their juice is "Pre-Steeped"!

lol... sigh i remember when i first started vaping. i bought this flavor... i think it was called tutti fruitti. it only came in 30 ml so i figured why not... bad idea. i think i still have 27 ml left. and i used maybe less than 1ml before i emptied my tank.

like others have said.. sometimes you gotta try a bunch before you find one you like. maybe find sites that have sample packs and pick up a bunch.
