Flat Top Batteries?

I'm pretty new to mods so go easy on me. Well I ordered some Panasonic CGR18650CH batteries off of Amazon, they're also Li-ion. So originally I didn't really think flat top batteries wouldn't differ then the button topped ones. I have a Chi-You mod Ver.2013, the adjustable pin is an alright addition, but I feel it's not reaching the battery? Also when I do get it into a spot, my mod wont fire at times and ends up firing randomly by itself even though it's not touching the pin or if I looked my mod. Can anyone give me an idea what's wrong? Or any tips?

First off that battery is a 10 amp battery, so keep your builds in check or bad stuff happens.

I don't know anything about your mod, or build for that matter so I'll leave that part of your question alone.

First i would get different batteries as those are only rated at 10A. Look for the sony vtc4s or vtc5s and purchase them from a reputable vendor, avoid amazon and ebay. Are you sure you have the correct tubes connected to fit the 18650?
I read that link pretty thoroughly and well THANKS haha, as soon as I got to the safety warnings in the topic it turned out really helpful, as some of those things said were happening to me!

I have an authentic 2013 SS version. I only use AW IMR 18490s in it and use the appropriate builds to accommodate the 16.4 max continuous discharge rate.

I have the flat top Sony VTC 4s and 5s, but use them in my other devices. Haven't try them in my Chi You.

My next major concerns besides using an incorrect rated battery are the resistance of your coils? what kind of atty are you using? you need an ohm meter or a digital multimeter especially using a mech mod.
I'm using an IGO-W3, with a dual coil setup, coils wrapped 4 times. All I could tell you is that, no one has not explained resistance of my coils very well nor suggested an ohm meter. My wire is 26g not sure which brand or anything. [emoji20] [emoji27]

Your resistance can vary pretty far depending on the diameter of the wraps. The lower the number gauge wire, the thicker it is, the less resistance it has. for example, 28g wire measured against 26g wire of the same length or same coil wraps/diameter, the 26g will have less resistance. This is super important. dual 26g at 4 wraps each i would guess overly exceeded the amp rating on your battery. If you cant get an ohm reader at the very least spend 10 bucks and get a DMM. You need to make sure you study ohms law, use an online calculator to determine how many amps you are going to be drawing from your battery based on the resistance of your coils.

Ahh thanks! Finally I've gotten a clear idea of it, I also actually do use online calculators determining how much amps I'm pushing also since I was curious about them.

The problem is you cannot correctly determine your amps if you do not know the resistance of your coils. That is a bad accident waiting to happen especially with a 10 amp rated battery. The sony vtc4s or vtc5s that i recommended are rated continuous at 30 amps which will be safe for pretty much any build you would ever want to vape for the most part realistically. Avoid getting the crazy stupid idea of subohming too low because you saw some simple minded fool on you tube do it.
