Flat vs Round - Have you ever...?

Almost choked!? I was honestly taken totally off guard!

I'm a 510 user and started off with Flat Tipped carts. I'd read that more people prefer them so that is what I ordered when I started.

After purchasing a few back-up kits, I did get some Round Tipped pre-filled carts, but really haven't given them an honest chance.

I received my Tornado yesterday and the pre-filled carts that came with it are round. I decided to give them a try.

I've gotten into the habit of holding the flat-tipped carts between my teeth, it's just a comfy pacifier thing.

I couldn't do this comfortably with the Round Tipped, but I was happily vaping away...

I took a nice draw ... and BAM - the round disk that fits into the tip of the cartridge popped out and hit the back of my throat!

I "gacked' and pushed it forward, then spit it into my hand in amazement. Wow... that kind of put me off those round tipped carts.

Has this ever happened to anyone else? I really don't think I sucked on it with any great intensity or force... I was just taking a nice regular draw.

Swallowing it wouldn't really be dangerous, it's rather small, but if I'd inhaled it? Yikes!

*shudder* That was just such a weird feeling, and a little scary!!

I did recently read a thread here where someone actually swallowed it. Perhaps can find by search. and they worry about children and e-cigs... lol
Would be scary thing to happen though.

I didnt know they can fly out like that via inhale. But still... are they like glued on or something? - maybe glue deteriorates? gosh...

They can be taken out for various reasons (cleaning the liquid catch, modding, etc) and are usually pretty firmly in place...but I'd imagine that if one was taken out several times it might loosen up. Don't know why a new one would do that, except simply being a bum unit.

I had this happen with a 901 flat tipped cartridge. Caught it in my mouth. No glue on the piece that came out.

BigJimW talked about this in a thread and/or a video I believe. Happened to me only once, putting a lot of psi on the poor cart. Not likely to happen if you're used to this kind, but I can see it happening if you're used to the other way.

I pop mine out often when I rinse the carts. No glue on any I`ve seen. They kind of snap in. Except for the 306 cart it`s like a soft rubber. Then it also can be done with the Flat tips as well. You can pop them out by biting the end or sticking a paper clip in and popping it out. Haven`t had any wear out from doing this yet. They always have stayed in for me so far.

I posted a while back in some thread about someone rinsing all their carts and having to wait for them to dry recommending this as a fast dry scenario type idea.

I read a post about a guy swallowing it and being glad he didn't inhale it! I had one come off in my mouth but it didn't go far because my tongue was in the way. I imagine if you direct inhale that could be more hazardous! Glad you're okay, Remie!

I just thought it was interesting that someone described it exactly the way it happened to me.

I suppose it's something to be aware of with the round tipped carts though.

Hey Remie, I saw BigJimW got a bunch of flak for that vid..not sure why if he was just sayin' what happened (haven't seen the vid either). Anyway, looks like we've gotta be easy on the round-tips and glad nothing bad happened to you besides a gross experience

Yeah - it's all good - it was just really weird! I prefer the flat tipped carts anyway. I'll just be aware of it now if I use any of the round tipped carts I have around.

One thing I did like though, is the flavor that was in that pre-filled round cart. Anyone know what it is? It came in the bottle of carts with the Tornado kit. It has a sticker that says "TOB" on the outside and the cellophane wrapper has TOB printed on it with strengths that vary from no nic to high nic ?? As a menthol-head, and someone who doesn't like plain tobacco flavors I was pretty surprised at how nice it tasted. It has a sweet, nutty flavor!

Yeah that thing from tropical bob has been up on a thread here for a week or two..
The round tips are more succeptable and it's usually a byproduct of biting on the carts..
You can take the tip off...take the second one out from the inside...then put the tip back on...and then take a lighter real quick around them and it'll kinda seal/fuse the tip on..
(I take the second one out because it gives the condensed juice a place to collect and if you seal it first it's a bear to get out...take the second one out and it can drip back to the atty)

or if you are a dripper you can get some of the Super T brass or stainless t-tips, they are tons better IMO, no possibility of swallowing something and no plastic chemicals leeching into the vape

Yeah that sucks Remie. I actually haven't had it happen to me at all yet and I regularly switch between flat tip, round tip, and the hybrid mix of the two that comes with the "disposable" 510s.

(and now I'll blame you when it happens to me later today since I said it hasn't )

I've heard of this happening, to Tropical Bob, specifically. I really think there needs to be a redesign on the round tips.

The funny thing is, though, is that I always pop mine off if I overfilled the cart to clean it. I also kinda chew, but not really, the tip of my round cart. It's not happened to me. At least yet.

This could be a disaster waiting to happen. Action needs to be taken by the companies that produce these, imo.
