Flavoring solubility in PG data

I am a new DIY e-liquid mixer but very scientifically capable...

Found this link that is of key interest for understanding the solubility of various flavors in PG ( Propylene Glycol )

I care about Anise Oil and Clove Oil solubility. Wish I could post this to DIY e-liquid Forum as it would be useful to others.

When trying to come up with a strong licorice juice recipie I noticed I could not get anise oil to dissolve. I followed several guide posted here suggesting alcohol or vodka addition. Cant get everclear here so used vodka and made it worse. Using this guide I limited anise oil to 3% in pure PG. Worked like a charm, clear as water fully mixed. This guide indicates that any water in the PG makes the anise oil much less miscible.

By the way the table is much more readable at the link....

My 4th iteration on this Recipe
7% Licorice
3% Anise oil
2% Menthol dissolved in minimal amount of vodka
0.2% Clove oil
50% PV 54mg
39.9% PV

I have some Eppendorf micro Pipettes that allow me to mix in microliter increments which really help's

Heh, like that recipe. Reads like it would have a good TH and leave a tingly feeling behind.

I'd probably sweeten it up, but I like my licorice more candy like than tea like. But, adding ethyl maltol would smooth it out some and might take that kick out that looks interesting.

I did a mix with anise oil and ethyl maltol that tasted like Good n Plenty candies. Good back when my tongue was still healing up from smoking, but it is too strong for me now.

Why don't you post a few more times and join us in the DIY Eliquid thread? Just say hi to some fellow newbies or share a few more recipes.

BTW: Welcome to ECF.
