When I first started into this world of DIY, all the threads suggested to start with single flavor mixes so you will know their taste. Thinking that I am smart, I decided my first mix would be "0" flavoring added. That way I could see first hand the effect of any single flaver added later. Well, much to my surprise, I liked it! Today, there is always an atty filled with 50/50-1.2% Base nearby. It makes up about half of my daily consumption.

I am also considering flavorless DIY to begin as when I tried some flavorless at a local b&m station it had a nice sweet taste stil from the PG/vg so I wouldn't say it has no flavor but the world flavorless is correct. it sounds like a lot of you do not use PG in your flavorless recipe is there a reason or are you just VG only guys? I have moved down to 50/50 when I buy juice now and I like it I am swaying more toward VG more often.

im trying to decide how much I will really save though when I do start adding flavor as I calcd that I can make 120ml from lucky 7s diy supplies for near 5-6 bucks (roughly estimated) 2.4mg/ml nic content. and 120ml bottle there is 12-13 bucks. although the flavor extracts appear to be rather cheap as well and it seems are used quite sparingly so my 5-6 bucks for 120ml might turn into 7-8 bucks tops I think but I still have a lot of reading to do before I start. even with unflavored which I have a feeling I will start liking. and with every juice I have gotten from luck 7 tasting just as good as "premium" (better in some cases) idk how much I will save with their awesome prices but I really want to make my own creations

Looks like most of these have been mentioned :)

Pros:

- Refreshing, lightly sweet flavor (if mostly VG), possibly with a hint of peppery taste (depending on nic.)
- Very unlikely to get taste fatigue. No need to rotate flavors every few hours, since you are not assaulting your taste buds.
- Very simple. No mixing flavors, or aging/steeping them. Just mixing the base liquids.
- The ultimate control over ingredients. Flavorings are unknown (to us) mixtures of many chemicals that are not well-studied for inhalation effects.
- Cheaper. Flavorings are much more expensive than the base liquids.
- Less solid buildup on coils means less maintenance on the hardware.

Cons:

- None. You can always add flavoring to it, if you want.

I think many would be fine with unflavored if they tried it, and stuck with it for a few days. I don't understand how people vape the premixed stuff out there, as I've always found it to be horribly over-flavored. To be fair, I suppose I do have a sensitive sense of taste and smell, though.

I prefer unflavored most of the time. I always get the lightly sweet taste of my VG, each time I pick up the e-cig and use it, and no aftertastes to make my pop, coffee, or food taste off. When I do add flavor, it's usually just 1-3 drops of a concentrated flavoring to 10ml of e-liquid.

VG is just more enjoyable. It's smooth and thick and by itself it tastes kinda sweet.

If you were to make even a 50/50 pg vg unflavored it wouldn't even compare. Without flavoring, PG tastes "musty" as wer2cool described it. However, and some will disagree, PG does bring out flavor in some cases. But it's different than 100% VG with added flavor. It's less smooth but more flavorful but still off?

Once you drop PG you'll probably never go back.

im trying to decide how much I will really save though when I do start adding flavor as I calcd that I can make 120ml from lucky 7s diy supplies for near 5-6 bucks (roughly estimated) 2.4mg/ml nic content. and 120ml bottle there is 12-13 bucks. although the flavor extracts appear to be rather cheap as well and it seems are used quite sparingly so my 5-6 bucks for 120ml might turn into 7-8 bucks tops I think but I still have a lot of reading to do before I start. even with unflavored which I have a feeling I will start liking. and with every juice I have gotten from luck 7 tasting just as good as "premium" (better in some cases) idk how much I will save with their awesome prices but I really want to make my own creations

DIY, in general, is going to save you a crapload of money.

I bought about $150 worth of flavorings from different companies, but I'm starting to regret it now.

Why? Because even though it's going to last me a year (or more, most likely), that's still $150 that I could have spent on some nice hardware.

With that said, I'm not sure whether or not I'm going to ditch flavorings entirely. I'll address that when I run out.

Also, if you're going for value, the best I've seen is vapingzone.com's super concentrated.

http://vapingzone.com/product-list.php?DIY-Flavoring-Alcohol_Base-pg1-cid59.html

It's 6$ for 10 ml of flavoring that is used at 2.5%. Based on my experiences, this is plenty.

10ml at 2.5% means you'll be able to flavor 400 ml of juice for 6 dollars.

At 4 mL a day (which is a pretty high guess), that means you won't have to restock in over three months.

At 2 mL a day (which is more likely accurate), that means you get 7 months of flavoring.

That's $1-2 a month for flavorings, which also contain no PG (that's a bonus if you want to abstain from it all together).

This thread: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...e-calculator-added-quantity-calculations.html

has an excel sheet that will help you calculate costs. It has a section devoted to it where you just punch in the cost of everything and it will give you price per mL.

awesome thanks for the recommendations .. lucky 7 has treated me well and prices are unbeatable for how good the flavors have been and I read that their nic was good quality on a few reviews so I thought id start there but I really should do more price comparisons on nic base, and vg itself. now I just need to learn more about freezing it as id rather not but if its necessary I will. and how much I will want to compensate for how much water would be added. smaller things at least. on another thread I was told not to get 100mg/ml to start and get 50mg but idk going to do some more learning and pricing before I even think about starting. 100mg just seems more efficient because im not going to be doing any 5ml test batches I will probably start with the very lowest being 30 ml and possibly more than that if im just doing unflavored ill know my mix and what im going for already not having to test taste as much, plus the fact that I vape 24 mg liquid not a lower dose

I actually only vape flavourless now. I found I would cough once and a while as if my lungs were a little annoyed when I vaped flavoured day after day. Since I have been vaping only flavourless no coughing at all. Personally I am starting to prefer flavourless over flavoured juices. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed many of the flavours that I have purchased but many of the benefits of what LucentShadow are true. I also may add a drop or two of flavour once in a while just to mix it up.

All I vape these days is unflavored from Nude Nicotine that I mix at 25PG / 75VG (12 MG nic) with no added water and a home brewed Mint/Menthol (from crystals) when I need a change of pace.

I love it. No odor to offend anyone and as was said, coils last a LONG time even for a chain vaper like me ;)

Currently I'm on my first set of coils on a pair of Aspire Nova-S Pyrex BDC's I bought almost two months ago...one each for unflavored and my menthol mix.
