I have successfully made coffee extract. I have bombed horribly on another coffee extract and a ground cinnamon extract.

I use pure lemon juice, okay, it comes from a plastic bottle shaped like a lemon, so not so pure. Also use apple cider vinegar.

Vanilla cooking extract is not concentrated enough to have good flavor at the percentage we use, and is high on alcohol content. People here have home extracted vanilla beans, but I have not.

I have seen tea, flowers, cocoa nibs, and numerous tobacco extracts done at home. Research is your friend!

Has anyone ever tried to use flavors other then E-cig or candy flavorings?

Have you ever tried to use things like pure lemon juice, or pure vanilla extract as a flavoring?

Made a cinnamon flavoring by adding ground cinnamon to distilled water, PG, or VG and heated it?

What have you tried?

Ok, I just tried to use the Real Lemon lemon juice to flavor a batch. I used 20% of it in a 10ml mix. It tasted darn good when dripped on my finger, but as soon as the coil heated it the lemon flavor was lost and all I got was a burnt taste. Imagion licking a burnt lemon peel. There was no way to save this one, and it was flushed down the drain. We won't be revisiting that one. I'll try someones lemon flavoring the next time.
So there's another one for ya.

Lemon juice is best used at very small amounts, less than 1%, to brighten fruit mixes. There's way too much sugar to use as a main ingredient.

I stay away from the home-made stuff. I've tried it in the past, and had bad results. Reminds me of spilling food on a oven coil.

Yeah, Im beginning to find this out...LOL. We won't be revisiting this any time soon.

Well I was trying to get someone to give me a heads up on some of this before I tried it. I was mixing one day and had gotten some lemon to try to bring out an apple flavoring I've been having trouble with. Had an extra bottle of VG base and Splenda so I figgured I'd give it a try.
Hopefuly my experance can keep someone else who is woundering about it from having to tast that nasty stuff.

My question about this... is it safe? Do we know if it's safe to get lemon juice in your lungs, for example?
I don't have a MSDS on lemon juice so I can't really give you a scientific point of view. But from a personal point of view I haven't dropped dead yet.

Sigh.

Just so everyone is clear...Vaping is not safe. Flavorings, of any and all types, are the greatest unknown when it comes to safety. There is a difference between juice in the lungs and vapor in the lungs and I'll bet that any MSDS will be on the liquid in contact with various surfaces plus assume that it is due to a commercial/industrial accident so concentrations and quantities are even less applicable.

There is a big thread on lemon juice and vinegar where folks are using very small amounts. SE started a new thread and immediately jumped to 20% and gunked a coil. That's happened to me many times. Best teacher in the world is finding out what doesn't work.

Always note that quantity has great meaning. Phosphoric Acid can be used in anti-personal munitions and it is in your Coke & Pepsi. The difference between trying to main or kill people and a refreshing beverage is quantity.

And Screamin Eagle, I like your approach. (Coming from someone who has a ziplock baggie of atty's I've killed experimenting with mixing.)
