I think that e-liquid vendors that use flavorings that may crack, craze or cloud plastic tanks should let us know somehow on their websites. Just a little note in the flavor descriptions warning that those particular flavors may damage plastic tanks would be a HUGE plus, and would, IMO, be a tremendous service to us vapers who use plastic tanks like the Vivi Nova.

Putting some yummy new liquid into my favorite tank only to find that after a few hours my tank is ruined would be a massive bummer, and I think that juice vendors should, as an ethical consideration, inform us of this potential hazard to our gear, as a gesture of goodwill, and "full disclosure".

I'd rather know that a juice might damage my tank ahead of time, so I can take proper precautions (like using a metal tank, or using a carto), than find out "the hard way".

I don't know of ANY juice vendor--even the ones with FANTASTIC reputations for customer relations--that offer this info in their flavor descriptions, and I think that this needs to change.

Jut sayin'...

Theres a thread here on the forums thats trying to list all of the juices that will crack plastic tanks.Thing is not all vendors use tanks so alot of them dont know themselves.

Also as sad as it may be, ultimately its up to you as a consumer to research these things not the other way around. Its where the term "buyer beware" comes from. This isnt really directed at you. I just have a major problem with younger generations thinking everything should be done for them.

Ive been a member here for 3+ years and I was aware that fruit juices and cinnamon can crack tanks but I put some Craveloupe in my very expensive Prive tank by Kir Fanis anyway and within 5 minutes the pmma had spiderweb cracks all inside it. Nobodys fault but my own.

Bottom line is, if you THINK theres a chance of a juice cracking your plastic tank dont put it in there especially if you dont have a backup. Either that or switch to Pyrex and you dont have to worry about it.

The above link will direct you to that thread. If you have had a flavor that has cracked or melted the plastic in a tank, clearomizer, etc. and it is not yet on the current list, please add it yourself to help other vapors avoid the same issue.

Since I had a clearomizer melt in my hands literally a couple of minutes after filling it with a new juice, strawberry lemonade, I made the decision to stop buying products containing polycarbonate. I now only use pyrex glass, or occassionally, polypropylene plastic (another plastic that is safe to use with volatile flavors).

Relatively inexpensive pyrex or polypropylene tanks are available. I am not promoting any vendors in particular, but the following are highly recommended:

pyrex glass
IBTanked - Get Tanked With Us! This vendor makes high quality, durable, yet inexpensive glass tanks starting at less than $18.

You will get a pyex tube of the length and diameter that you choose. Choose from a wide selection of stainless steel or acrylic endcaps. A selection of drips tips and cartomizers are offered for sale separately.

polypropylene plastic
510 Pro DCTank Combo This is a complete tank kit including a polypropylene tube, metal endcaps, drip tip, and a 5-pack of cartomizers for under $22.

Polypropylene is a plastic material safe for use with the volatile flavors. It is the same material used in medical syringes. It has a frosted appearance, unlike the crystal clear plastic of polycarbonate.

I'm 47 years old. I have concealed carry permits issued by 4 different states, and I don't expect ANYONE to do anything for me--for my safety, or my convenience. I'm the LAST person who wants to force the industry to wipe my nose or hold my hand...

But my car has a sticker on the gas tank that says you should only use "premium grade" in it or it won't work optimally. And our Diesel Jetta had a sticker on it's gas tank that said if you put anything but diesel in it, it would harm the engine.

I'm just saying that when a vendor manufactures an e-liquid that is widely known to damage some plastics, they should do the same. It would be the ETHICAL thing to do, is what I'm getting at...

The Vape world is still the wild west, Man. I'm sure things like this will come about sooner or later. Maybe with that new Trade committee they'll come up with something like you're talking about.

I wish I could have made the Pasadena Vape meet. Hopefully I can make the next one.

Yeah, I recently found out about "JonBoy's LavaTanks", and discovered that in addition to the beautifully-turned multi-colored acrylic end caps with integral drip tips that they make, they are coming out with an RBA tank later this month. I'm lusting after one of those, but this marketing scheme is bizarre--no retail website, no retail suppliers--he just posts pics on various forums and people PM him to get on the list to buy them.

I find that to be exceedingly weird--it's not an auction-type sales method, but it seems to be an awkward way to sell his work, and it seems like it must make a boat-load of work for him to keep track of all the people on the lists.

Hopefully I can figure out how this whole strange system works, and get in on the list when the new version comes out later this month...
