First, this is the Smoktank XL I'm using from smoktek along with the Dual Coil XL tank Cartomizer from smoktek.

Smoktek Dual Coil Tank.jpgSmoktek Dual Coil Carto 2 hole.jpg

The carto that came in the tank had only one hole and wasn't working well for me so I punched another hole in it. Then it worked better.

When I ordered more cartos, I thought, hmm, why not just order the cartos with two holes.

Well the original carto with one hold and my punched hole still works pretty good, but the two hole carto always seems to be flooded or at least I think that's what's happening.

It gurgles! I changed the carto and put another one in but the same thing is happening. I take off the drip tip and shake it out thinking there's juice in the air tube, but it still does the same thing even though I can see clearly through the air tube.

So my question is is it possible that the two hole cartos are too much for the juice that I use? In that tank, I'm using Halo's Menthol Ice 100% PG. The other carto with the one hole and my punched hole has Velvet Vapor Peppermint 100% PG.

Right now, I blew all the juice out of the "flooded carto" and filled the tank with the Peppermint to see if it was the Menthol Ice that had the problem. But even with the Peppermint, it's still flooded again.

Any thoughts. I'm so frustrated again! Should I just chuck the two hole cartos and order one hole cartos and see what happens again? Or maybe order cartos with no hold and punch my own???

And maybe I'm still not getting this whole tank thing down yet. When I press the button, I hear the crackling, but then it stops even though I'm still pressing the button and inhaling. Is that normal or should it crackle the whole time I'm holding the button down?

Oh and one other quick question while I may have someone attention, Ego Twist battery charging. I thought I was supposed to wait till the battery ran all the way down and was blinking before I charged it. But I read in another thread that you don't need to do that and if you did, that's what might cause the shorter life of the battery in general.

Thanks for all help, suggestions, hints, tips and "there, there" pats on the back.

You guys rock!

If you draw too hard on a tank setup you can flood the cartomizer very easily. Take a longer, slower draw. If I end up flooding one of mine I use a 20 gauge needle to pull some of the liquid out, twist a piece of kleenex tightly and run it into the air tube and wipe the battery/carto connectors with a cotton swab. I'm not sure if all of that would be recommended by others, but it works for me. Also I'm not sure how your storing your pv when the tank is on but always stand it up.

Judging by all the lithium ions battery's I've used in my life. I don't think your doing any harm by running them until the light blinks. That's what I've done with cell phones, power tools and my pv's and never had an issue with reduced battery life. They don't have a memory so charging them before they're dead shouldn't reduce the charge they can hold like a ni-cad battery. I do believe the are only rated for 300 cycles so there's not the greatest in terms of life span. Most lithium ion battery's are rated for 2000 cycles.

Sounds like a plan. What did you switch to, if I might ask?

i'm using the mini sub from mom and pop's vape shop. I have 3 of them, never flood and always give a great hit so far. Only issue is that they require either a syringe or an 80 cent adapter to fill. Also replacing cartos is kind of a pain since they use flush seals.

my boge 3ohm cartos don't stick out the top like in the youtube video, they are flush.

I use Smoktec dual cartos in their DCT tanks. I use a tank tool to put in new cartos and to push them down to fill the tanks when a refill is necessary. I fill the cartos the first time out with a syringe carefully until they are slushy on top. I do not remove the caps, I do not fill the tank completely full. No matter how many punches the carto has, pressure will force too much juice in there when you reseat it to the proper position if the tank itself is too full, with or without the top cap being off and pushed back on. These are pressure operated. Too hard or fast a pull is going to flood them. Too much pressure is going to flood them.

I use a single punched carto and my mix is 50/50. It wicks fine and does not flood unless I absentmindedly hit it like I used to hit a cig, hard and fast. If I hear gurgling I sit it to the side for a day and vape on something else. When my cartos need replacing they tend to leak at the battery connection some. By that time they've been in a tank for a week or more. Time to replace.

Re firing the battery and hearing the crackle. There is a cutoff on all battery PV's to protect the unit. I think it's 10 seconds. So if you are pressing the button for 11 seconds it's going to stop firing.

Thanks for responding!

How do you avoid getting pressure in the tank? When I use a new carto, I do what I've seen in a video, put the new carto in, fill the tank, then suck some juice into the carto from the tank. Maybe put a few drop in the top of the carto.
Then push the carto back in through the top.

This particular tank always gives me a hard time getting it back through the top. I end up using a smaller drip tip to help guide it back through. It's always a rough push through though.

Maybe it's this particular tank itself. Maybe I'll try another new tank that I have and see what happens?

I noticed this morning when I've tried it again, there's seems to be a fog inside the tank, the other tank on my other battery doesn't have that.

Thanks for you help, I really appreciate it!

The DCT tank and carts aren't that great I think they are still there only cause newbies my self at one time will get them because they look easy. The tube is very thin and is easy to crack the carts suck! Id say go with pretty much any other tank punch your own carts and you'll be happy. I am. I haveM1A1, Phiniac, Mom and Pops, Little Mamma,ACT3, DIY Atomizer tank, Reactor atomizer tank. Happy with them all over DCT

I'm kind of embarrassed to admit, I figured out what the problem was. Every time I took that tank off, my hands got wet with juice. I just figured, still being relatively new at this, that the carto was leaking from the bottom.

I had one more new tank, put in a new two hole carto, filled the carto and the tank, waited fifteen minutes and guess what the result was...it's working perfectly.

Doh! These tanks don't last forever, I have to keep remembering that. I originally bought two a few months ago, but only used that one consistently.

I've learned a lot in the several threads that I've started asking rookie questions. One is that most people have several batteries with several different tanks or whatever they choose to use and rotate using them. Same with their juices, not vaping the same one over and over till you can't taste it any more.

Thanks everybody for all your help, hints, tips, suggestions and encouragement! Hugs to all!

I almost bought the Little Momma, but wasn't sure I wanted to put out that much money. Looks like you have quite the collection and variety. I guess that's the spice of live and the way to find what works best for you.

Do you have any pictures of your collection? I see your avatar, but would love to see the picture bigger.

Thanks for your help and suggestions!

i have the exact same - but i have discovered that if you add more VG to your mix then it works like a dream - up/downside - more smoke!

All mine were flooding - after all - you can do a few things - fewer holes or make a liquid sticky and more resistant to going thru them at all. So for this dct i give it extra VG. I had tried even raising the tank so high the air holes on the cart were below it - but it looked rather odd puffing on it - since the drip tip would not reach ;)

i run a silver bullet with an 18650 at 3.7v. I'm an ex 40 Marlboro Red smoker that has been vaping for about 2 months and i like the capacity of this tank for work - but i run vivi nova tanks as well - but they are single coil. And my wife loves those too on her black beauty.

Hope this helps rather than throwing it all away.
