NOTE: you may be reading this months after the original posting but I still need your help. When I get plenty of promos, I will edit this post.
I have a friend who has a low power non-profit radio station he owns and runs. It broadcasts for about a 20 mile range in my west michigan city, and also online through his app and via www.heyradio.com
His audience is mostly 16-35 year olds, he plays mostly alternative christian rock music.
I was able to have a couple friends do some radio promos for him, one from England and one from Indonesia. He loves the "foreign" accent promos and uses these promos on the air all the time.
I would love to be able to give my friend a few more radio promos. It is very simple. The words to say are below, along with actual playable examples, you just read into your computer or phone while you record it then just email it to me and I will pass it on to him.
If you are from "not the USA" and you think you might have a fun accent to us here in the States, would you consider recording a promo for me for him to use? People from france, australia, china, you name it.
Here are the promos you would speak:
"You're listening to W-H-E-Y . Broadcasting from North Muskegon Michigan on 88 point 9 F-M and streaming across the globe from hey radio dot com!"
and
"This is Jane Smith from Liverpool England and you're listening to 88 point 9, Hey Radio!"
(use your name or a made up name typical for your country where it says Jane Smith above)
Even better - have fun with it - throw in a typical phrase or two from your country. Or just make up your own, just put in "W-H-E-Y . Broadcasting from North Muskegon on 88 point 9 F-M" and "hey radio dot com".
TIPS: Muskegon is pronounced "Mus-kee-gn". The more exaggerated and fun you can make the promo the better. Record it several times, the same thing, and my friend will splice them together. Record on your voice recorder or memo recorder on your phone or on your wav recorder on your laptop, anything that records. Please try to be sure there are no dogs barking or car noise or anything in the background, please do this in a quiet place.
I hear the indonesia and england promos on the radio all the time! This is your chance to be anonymously famous and help me just to be kind.
I have links so you can actually listen to what I am talking about:
Promo example I made for my friend: http://www.kallenwebhosting.com/heyradio/Hey-Radio-USA-Promo1.mp3
What my english friend sent (two of several copies she sent):
http://www.kallenwebhosting.com/heyradio/England-Promo-1.mp3
http://www.kallenwebhosting.com/heyradio/England-Promo-2.mp3
The raw recording my indonesian friend sent:
http://www.kallenwebhosting.com/heyradio/Indonesia-Promos.mp3
If you have 10 minutes to spare, an accent to us in the USA, a way to record your voice, and think this would be fun, I'd sure appreciate it if you would do this.
Send promos to heyradio ...-at-... kallenweb.com (get rid of the ...-at-... and put an @ there instead).
Thank you my e-cig forum international friends!
