just received two of these connectors. great quality, threads are super smooth inside and out. Super fast shipping, you do need to be careful soldering the positive lead on, its easy to melt the insulator... mine still works, just got a little melty...

It is best to disassemble the unit to solder the positive lead on so that you do not apply heat to the insulator. The pictures on Varitube's site shows the unit taken apart and the end cap and the spring slide up on the wire for the soldering to be done for the positive lead to the positive pin. You can then reassemble the parts after soldering.

That's why you take center pin out and then solder to it

Got mine. It threads nicely, with no felt resistance due to the spring. It is small. I would use it in a bigger box mod, but for my epipe build it's perfect.

I just found out Fatdaddys 510 is also 14mm --he should say that in its ad it just says for the flush look a locking 22mm washer. I get it now its 14mm and you can add the ~8mm washer to have a 22mm 510. I assumed the locking washer was for pulling it in more to the mod from the bottom-- should say adjusting outer diameter locking ring 14mm 510 into a 22mm 510.. lol What do I know tho he sells out of em in a day

Heres the ad, it doesn't say its diameter is natively 14mm.

Spring loaded 510 connectors with direct solder point on positive post. Spring is not part of the conduction. Comes with solder collars and hex nuts.

Optional 22mm locking washer for that flush 22mm look.

The connector is either 14m or 22mm if the 22mm washer is added. The locking is the 22mm washer to the 14mm 510 connector so the 22mm part wont turn when an atty is tightened. It's really done quite well from the looks of it but I haven't installed mine yet so I will wait to see if it performs as expected.

Being that he's sold probably more than 10k of the things, I'd say his act is perfectly together.

If his act was perfectly together he would have stock of these items. Seems he under produces and can never meet demand for more than 2 days at a time. Great product, but perhaps his act could use a bit more perfection.

Fact: FD not having these in stock cost them at least 1 customer, ie me. Call it what you want, but in my economics books, losing customers is generally bad.

Now back to the OP. Here's the Varitube version on one of my mods. So far I'm very happy with these, both materials and craftsmanship.

I took apart the connector and soldered the (+) wire directly to the bottom of the center pin. Don't forget to pull the wire thru the bottom cap and positive pin spring first.

The (-) side of the circuit on my mod is closed by the metal casing. On plastic/non-conductive mods, I solder the negative wire to a washer that goes over the threaded part of the connector secured with the large bottom nut.

Just because YOU didn't get them doesn't mean he's underproducing; they are actually available right now online at some other dealers and his restock is due in reasonable time. Selling 10k of anything retail with a moq of 1 involves a HELL of a lot of work on the back end, so he might just be producing what he's comfortable producing and selling, not to mention the tens of thousands of dollars he's sending overseas for each run.

Very typical of the entitlement attitude in America these days.

FWIW the varitube versions are unauthorized ripoffs which are of a worse design.

Dr G they are not ripoffs you need to read the post of how they came to be..

They weren't advertised as FD's production was because it was not on breaks site but the people who made the cad drawings(bap**) knew they were building them and they asked if they could..

Its all on the ecf forum.. Its in the vendors section I think, IDK its a huge post about sx-350. I also thought they did a China rude move, they did not it was all up and up..

Thanks for the heads up! I'm glad I ordered one of each... I need the 22mm specifically for a project, and, as it turns out, I have a use for the 14mm too.
