A 1.5 ohm dual coil in a tank should be able to take just about anything that the infinity can put out. That being said I like to run mine at about 4.2, and most VV devices don't play well with Dual coils. I run my 1.5 Smoketech dual coils in a 5ml Big Daddy SS tank on my Precise Plus 18650 on a fresh charge and it is perfect. If you are a carto lover a 14 dollar voltage meter and an 18 dollar 3ml reg carto tank is all that stands between you and carto nirvana!

Thanks again Dan. Do you prefer the standard carto tanks over the dual coils or do they end up being just about the same? I do like the Smoktech Mega's for the ego, but I think the one tank I have is falling a bit short. I know there are a dozen tank options out there these days, so I just have to find the one that will work for me. Any preferences?

........ Is there something I can do to my existing set up to make it a bit smoother? .............

By far, the thing that helped me the most was learning the long, slow draw. I had to work at it, because it's the opposite of a ciggy. With a ciggy, you pull harder to increase the fire, but with a pv, you want to slow down to increase the wicking time for your joose.

The thicker the juice, the more this technique helps. It's not that vg produces more vapor per volume, it's that more vg get converted to vapor with the same heat and air flow, and since more is converted, more has to flow in to replace what's been vaporized away.

With my 3.2 ego and a 2 ohm atty, I can stay on the button the whole time for a six to eight second draw. The vapor gets pretty hot, but not too hot. That's my favorite combination, but a 2.5 ohm topcoil is very close. With topcoils, I also tilt them between vapes to get the wick saturated close to the coil.

With my 3.7 e-power, I have to get off the button a second or two before completing my draw. My ego batts are starting to die, so I plan on going to 2.2 ohm attys as they match the e-power better for me.

I have a 5v PT, but I'm not using it at the moment because I'm out of higher ohm attys and topcoils to use with it. Guess I'd better get my order in.

just like keith i use 2ohm cartos at 5 volts..i like the shorter drags and nice TH...they are smoktech DC's in a 5ml tank..you can find these at madvapes as well...before i put it in the tank I gave it a fill, blew it out, and its been going strong for a week, so far so good..no dry hits and good flavor

Only ..... you keep refering to the GLV2 as a 5v mod, and that's not exactly true. It hits at 12watts regardless of what you put on it.

Maybe you should talk to the owner who makes it. He's pretty astute about his business and I don't agree that he would lie about the products he sells as you are stating. Especially since he built them himself. My guess is you don't know how to measure voltage correctly.

Maybe you should try giving the tanks a try. I like the SmokTech tanks. They're awesome!!

Hello Everyone!

So I have been at this for a little over 4 months. Loving it so far, but my journey has had some ups and downs. Long story short, I started with a knock off ego-T, then the real one with LR atty's from CigNot, then the Type B's, then discovered Ego Mega Dual Coil Carto's. Boy were they nice! Still use them today and I am very happy with them. Wifey asked me what I wanted for Christmas so I just said what the hell, get me an Infinity Pro. Well, she did! Wow is this thing nice!!!!!!!!!! So is my wife for that matter! :)

So, I now have my first mod and I have been using it hard since Christmas day. I picked up a tank from MadVapes as well as a 510 to 510 extention and a pack of 3.2 ohm boge carto's. My EMDCC's are really nice on this and work really well. I don't turn the voltage up that high, just in between green and yellow for a nice warm vape. The tank is the 3.5 ml dual coil 1.6 ohm kit. It has been performing well, but I have started to get a bad scratching feeling in the back of my throat when I use it. The higher the voltage the worse it gets, but I don't get the burnt taste from the juice. Not sure if it is the carto or not. Tonight I filled up 2 of the boge's with some juice to try out some higher voltage. Once I got them filled correctly, (used condom method,) they tasted really good and low volts, but when I cranked it up to 4.5 or 5+ I could hear the carto cooking the juice for a second, then nothing. All I got was burning carto taste. :(

So now my questions.

1. Should I try a different carto in the MadVapes tank, or look into other tank options? Is there something I can do to my existing set up to make it a bit smoother? I have not tried any other juice in the tank, just my Bounty Hunter. I don't like a mix match of juice in a carto.

2. I thought the Boge 3.2 ohm carto's were for high volt mod's. Why does it seem like they are not wicking right at the higher settings? The juice seems to burn up quicker then it can get to the coil, and that is were the burnt taste is coming from.

3. Finally, for those that have the higher volt mods, what do you use?? I am looking for something that will last all day, and hold up. I work construction so I need something that is not prone to breaking easily. The EMDCC do work well, but I would like to be able to experiment with higher voltages and at $3 + a piece I don't want to burn them out.

Finally, let me say thank you for bearing with my novel. I do tend to ramble a bit from time to time. I just wanted to share me story a little and hear what everyone thought.

WV,

Thanks for the suggestion, but I already have my VV mod. So far the Infinity Pro has been working really well, and the batteries have been lasting me more then a day. What I was asking was, what does everyone put on top of their high volt mod's. What tanks, carto's, etc. I keep seeing my tank or EMDCC getting ripped off the I Pro in my head, so I was just curious what others have had used and like.
Tycho

I use dual coil cartomizers mostly: mega clears and mega EMDCC's. When I use an atty, I use BE112's or mini 801's. They are really nice around 4.8 volts.

Jam,

I just tried a brand new boge 2 ohm today. I used them on my ego battery many times before with no issues so I kinda knew what to expect, but when I put it on the Ipro it gave me about 2 good hits then I got nothing but burn. 5 more drops and I was good for 2 hits again. This was at the lowest voltage setting. I have no idea what the carto's are not working like they did. On my ego they were good for at least 2 hours. I basically gave up on them for tonight, filled up an EMDCC with some Kentucky cherry wood and it has been great. Flavor, Vapor, and the TH floors me.

For now it looks like I will be sticking with those and my one tank from MadVapes. Once pay day hits I can pick up some more tanks from there and some extra carto's that they carry for the tanks.

WV,

Thanks for the reply. So far the mega's have been rock solid. Glad I have 3 spare's sitting in s safe place. The down side is I have 3 boxes of Boge's that I don't think I am going to be using any time soon.

I don't have any atty's right now, but I have been thinking about getting one. I still want to experiment with juices but I don't want to fill a tank or a mega with something I have not tried. I will have to look for the ones you mentioned. Do the 801's work with 510 threads or do I need an adapter? I do not know all the number yet. The Ego's used 510 connectors so that is all I have so far.

I was actually trying to figure out why he kept telling him to get this:confused:

Agreed. Not referring to you, but what kills me is that a few persistent members providing advice to new people who want warmer vapor and more throat hit, actually don't like throat hit but still feel the need to give advice that does little good since they themselves don't like warm vapor or throat hit. They never recommend a higher voltage or variable voltage model because they have no experience with them and seem to think everyone should be satisfied with cold vapor and little to no throat hit. I really don't get that

This is so true.

The BE112 is a low bridge 801 and the mini 801 is also low bridge which performs better, IMO, than high bridge ones. The 801's have a larger coil area and hold up better. They work best, however, on 4.5 to 5.0 volt models. You can get the mini 801's from IKenvape and the BE112's from BestEcigs or Puresmoker. You will need a 510 to 801 adapter which costs about $3.

when I went VV it took some time and refinement of drag and voltage for each juice to get it down. I had some of the scratchy issue at first too but time and practice took care of it. I also had that issue as a general rule with Boge cartos,,,I much much much prefer the horizontal coils myself as by design they wick so much better (actual wick in the coil) and are never dry unless you really 'duh' out and run them desert dry...tho l have liked the ST duals ok.

I also found my desired wattage/voltage levels creeped up with time and my nic level was able to go down. Keep playing and finding the sweet spots!
