Hello again folks and welcome back for today's review of the Galex Pod MTL device from Freemax, I was sent a sample version that is a first batch that goes out to reviewers for feedback and not the final retail version. The Galex is a simple and easy system having no buttons, information display screen or adjustments. Having a auto-draw feature is great if the device performs well and having the wattage pre-set depending on the coil used also is a great feature if it works well. Airflow is also pre-set so this is where some people will like it or not based on your inhale type of either loose or tight or somewhere in the middle, is a I'll cover all of it in my review so you can determine if it's a good fit for you. Before my review of the Galex lets check out some information on it supplied from Freemax.

    FIRST IMPRESSIONS

As I said in my opening statements the MTL Galex Pod device is simple and so is the packaging of it with a slide out inner box bottom with the 2nd coil and charge cord inside a Black rectangular box on the bottom,

I told you in the beginning statement that this is a sample first batch version tat was sent to me and that would explain why a micro USB charge cord was sent with the device and not a Type-C cord that the Galex needs to charge it, no big deal I have very many and the final retail version will have a Type-c cord so don't worry, I just needed to point that out.

On top of the box is a foam cutout containing the Galex, warranty card and warning card sit on top of it, no user manual was included in my sample version but you will have one in the final retail version.

I have to say the color I was sent looks very nice and is light as well as being shirt pocket capable. First thing I looked for was if the Pod was tinted or clear and was happy seeing a clear Pod. The airflow inlet holes are rather tiny of which there is one on each side of the device. Branding is fine with the GALEX name in front and the FREEMAX name in very small print on the bottom in back.

Turning our attention to the Pod itself that is held in place using magnets as most Pods are, there is a protective sticker that says PEEL on the bottom of the coil that must be removed in order for the Galex to operate. In this picture you can see the 2 auto-draw airflow tubes that work pretty well for a in between draw of tight to loose leaning toward the loose side. Two coil contacts are in the center of the auto-draw air feed tubes and magnets on each side of the device.

The mouthpiece is the duckbill type and is comfortable to use, I think the diameter of the hole is just right in my opinion.

The mouthpiece is a break away type to get to the Pods inner refilling port, more and more manufacturers are using this type of fill method because it works so well.

To access the Pods fill port simple tilt the top of the mouthpiece forward or back and it will snap off to reveal the fill port hole in Red on one end and another very tiny hole on the other end that allows air from inside the Pod to escape during the filling of the Pod for a mess free fill up.

Charging the device is done through the bottom via USB port. The battery mAh rating is printed above the USB type c port. The battery strength is measured using colors on a LED light in front below the display screen.

As I've said and you've seen there is no information display screen but there is a light show on the display if you choose to engage it for a unicolor or multicolor display of flashing LED lights of keep them off as the picture above shows with them off. Here are some pictures of the different light colors in various lighting conditions.

    FINAL IMPRESSIONS

Well folks here are my findings on the Galex Pod, I will start with the airflow that has no adjustment and for me runs in the middle of tight or loose but leaning more toward the looser direction of inhale, the auto-draw works very well and I'm happy with it, I wish it was just a hair tighter though.

The Galex is supplied with 2 coils, a 1.0Ω mesh that is preinstalled and a 2nd coil that's also mesh and is 0.8Ω. The 1.0Ω coil has good flavor but very little warmth and intensity, I found myself wanting more but with no adjustment for wattage it couldn't be found. Before I forget to tell you, the coils have flat spots and need to be lined up correctly and seated fully into the Pod.

The 0.8Ω coil is more to my liking with plenty of warmth and better flavor in my opinion. I have not had any leaking or seepage from either coil. As far as the light show it's good looking but I tend to keep them off to conserve on battery life. the way to turn the lights on or off in by inserting the Pod in and out twice within 3 seconds.

Overall it's a pretty good Pod device with the Freemax flavor we all love on the 0.8Ω coil more than the 0.1Ω coil for me but take that with a grain of salt because we all have our own likes and dislikes and the 1.0Ω coil might be perfect for you. I would like to thank Tina and Freemax for sending the Galex Pod Kit for me to review.

    THANK YOU
