Hello Peoples,

I've been wanting to get off of cigarettes for years now, as my coughing has gotten worse and worse over the years making me go from Marlboro reds, to lights, to currently ultra lights. I am a chain smoker though, close to two packs a day.

So after much research I took the plunge and ordered myself a Silver Bullet, for the long battery life, and some 510 yeti cartomizers with a bottle of 24MG MLB tobacco flavored and a bottle of 24MG RY4. Everything I had read up to this point on various forums said that heavy smokers should start out with high nicotine content to make the switch from cigs to e-cigs.

The thing is that the throat hit is way too strong for me, and it makes me cough with just about every inhale. Is that due to the high nico content and/or the flavors?

Not sure what to do or try next, but I can't continue like this because the whole reason i want off of analogs is because of my cough and now I cough more with the e-cig haha. SO frustrating, especially after dumping about $150 into this venture so far with the SB, 2 batts, 2 bottles of juice and like 10 cartos.

I'm hoping some vets can guide me in the right direction. I love the flavors of these juices, but I cough each and every drag, it's just so harsh of a throat hit!:(

I think a lot of people have that problem at first. but if your looking for some great juice with little or no throat hit for a great price try Vapor Renu. You can customize the TH and even their 24 will give you almost no TH if you don't buy it with the TH added they are only $7 for 30ml and their flavors are fantastic.

TH is something you can customize, or add or not add to 24MG juice? haha. Never saw that option before? Can you explain that a little more to me please?

try using VG juice instead of PG, and go a bit lower on the nic if you have to. Also don't try to smoke it like a cigarette bring the vapor into your mouth for a second then inhale it or puff it like a cigar, you will notice the nicotine is transferred very quickly, so you don't have to really inhale a lot. ;)

good clean nicotine liquid has little to no TH by itself and neither does PG or VG I'm talking about none. I have 48mg liquid nic that has no TH by itself none and trust me PG or VG don't have any TH by themselves either. Companies are either using Nic that isn't pure or adding something to get the TH. Jason at Vapor Pure adds Grain Alcohol for TH. It doesn't take much. So if you want smooth TH you get no Grain Alcohol added the list goes all the way up to super agressive. If what you are looking for is very smooth juice his is the best that I know of.

The more pg you use the more the throat hit is. The more vg you use the more vapor and less throat. Try a 30/70 mix vg/pg.
I had the same problem though when I started and had to lower to 18mg. then it quit. Plus I ate cough drops.

Ah that is probably it then, because it is 100% PG. That's too bad because the bottles of VG stuff I saw was like $14.95 for a small 15 ML bottle, whereas the PG was just $6.95 for a 15ML bottle. I'm a college student so I'm on a strict budget so not sure I can afford the $14.95 when a 15ML lasts usually what, like 3 days?

Oi! So some say PG causes it and some say it doesn't? haha.

Yeah I want some TH and high nico, but not so much TH that I hack heh. Thanks for the info, I'll check out that site!

I don't know about PG having more TH. I used to think that was the case because it did seem that the juices I used that were 100pg were higher in TH. but I think it had more to do with were they were made (China) I have pure PG that I have just added flavoring to and it has zero TH. Same for VG. I vaped straight PG just to see if it would give TH and it didn't. I'm kinda thinking it's more likely that there is an impurity in some companies Nic and maybe it comes through more with PG because it doesn't have the sweetness of the VG to mellow it out.

I just want to confuse you a little more if I may.

Remember that it is not a cigarette, so it will take a little time to learn how to draw on it too. (Sorry if it was already said, I just skimmed and saw PG and VG a lot.) Slow steady puffs. It took me a little time to get used to, it is definitely different than a cigarette. You didn't buy no lightweight model to begin with either.

You should of read the everything about ecigs 1 through 6 in the ecig library. It covers the VG and PG vapor throat hit thing. You probably just need to lower your nic and when you quit smoking you cough allot clearing all that junk out of your lungs.

Haha @ "You didn't buy no lightweight model to begin with either"...yeah I know, but the thought of changing batteries every few hours annoys the hell out of me :D So I basically got it for the 2 day battery life, plus it just looks bad ... ;)

I do know about the slow steady puffs, I've done a lot of forum lurking and research for the past month or so to try and alleviate as many noob problems for myself as possible. Thanks for the tips.

I had the same problem. I couldn't inhale without coughing, or at least suppressing a cough, for several days. Menthol juice actually was about the only one that didn't give me a problem, kinda like smoking with a cold, for some reason it was much smoother. American juice seemed smoother than the Chinese that I started with. VG, lower nic, better technique, all will help, but for me, a lot of it was just getting used to the vapor.

It's in this section of the library :
The Wonderful World of Vaping - (Part 3 of 6) Software and Process

And here is what it says:
Even if you are not allergic to PG, you might prefer VG or those others. Conventional wisdom is that PG packs more flavor and throat hit, but VG generates more vapor. [When I mix my own juice, I use both.]

Be sure and drink lots of fluids. I'm always drinking something while I'm vaping. Also try lowering the temperature of your vape a little. Just use your button to control it. I often only hold the button down a couple of seconds on a four second pull, open my mouth to mix some air and inhale, then repeat. Hope you get it sorted soon. JD

I'm a Newbie too. Real new. I only started vaping this past Saturday. But, I tried one analog after a half day vaping, and truly had to throw it away after two puffs. That thing was NASTY tasting.

OK, back to what's happening with you. Happens with me too, if I use any flavor with PG in it, even with a percentage of PG as low as 20%. I got a bunch of flavors to try from different sources (recommended here on the forum) and I found that if they have ANY PG in them, I cough like crazy. It's not a lung cough either...it's a TH cough. Not burning my throat, but irritating. The pure VG flavors don't make me cough.

It's getting a bit better, but I've found that the only way I don't cough is to weaken the PG content. To do that, I've been mixing some of my PG/VG flavored juices with the tobacco flavored pure VG juice. It cuts it enough that I don't cough. Chocolate...or caramel flavored tobacco isn't too bad. hahaha

I suspect I'm sensitive to the PG. You may be as well. Or...maybe it's something else. But I know I've been careful inhaling too. I never did heavy TH's while using analogs anyway. I tended to slowly inhale, so I just continued that.

Just thought I'd chime in here now I'm not a veteran or anything I just got my kit Mon. but I had the same problem now I know this is probably just me but I liked having it and vaping so much that I've basically been chain vaping since I got it and now I'm about used to it. Now I did smoke the nice harsh full flavor menthols that would fill like you were smoking fiber glass because TH was always a big deal for me I didn't chain smoke though but I think that was just because of cost. But yeah I'd say you'll get used to it and like someone else earlier on here I did notice I don't really inhale like I did smoking a analog. Okay well that's my 2 cents.
