Andrea, I had a similar problem with Halo juice in my G6. I developed bad vape tongue, lost my sense of taste fora few days, and even got a couple tongue blisters. When I switched to a 50/50 blend at local B&M, my symptoms disappeared. Try changing your PG/VG ratio, its probably the cause. Halo does not disclose theirs but Ive been able to go to 60/40 without a problem so far. Good luck, happy vaping!!

I've used the Halo G6 in the past and thought it, and their cartos, were great for that size and form factor, but I didn't care for any of their liquids. I do know that there are some who are allergic to PG, so I would definitely suggest getting some sampler packs of 100 VG liquids. Virgin vapor is all VG, but some of the vendors mentioned in some of the other replies let you indicate the pg/VG mixture and they may be less expensive than virgin vapors.

The other thing to check, as mentioned above, is the inhalation technique - though if you've been using Blu's for awhile, this may not be the issue so much as the pg/vg mixture.

I hope you are able to find some liquids that will work for you!

did the same as you AndreaR--started out & liked the 'blu', then started buying my own juice...

got lucky first few bottles (before I knew) and got strong VG (like maybe 30/70 PG/VG)
then got some the other way; 70/30 pg/vg AND WOW !
that's how I found out that PG irritates me...

then I found Johnson Creek Red Oak Tennessee Cured Smoke Juice Johnson Creek Smoke Juice
their line called Red Oak is 100% VG, and I fell in love with Tenn Cured (but it's tuff on coils)
I'm guessing your not into menthol ?

anyway Good Luck and let us know how it turns out... :)

Hello, all. About two months ago my husband and I bought the Blu kits. I loved the flavor of the Java Jolt and it did not make me cough but we hated the batteries and the expense of the cartomizers. My husband upgraded to an Ego C Twist and has not smoked an analog cigarette since. He is using juice from our local Brick and Mortar. I tried his and almost coughed to death. I then ordered a juice sampler and a G6 from Halo in a lower nicotine and again, almost coughed to death. My throat feels like I gargled with broken glass. I even went to the doctor and had a strep screen. I am really disappointed at this point because the juice sampler wasn't cheap and I wasted a bunch of cartos on juice I can't vape. The cartos won't fit hubby's set-up which I did not buy because I at first blamed the coughing on the stronger battery.

I think I might have a sensitivity to PG since it is in both the local B&M juice and in the Halo juice that make me cough but not in the Blu cartos which don't make me cough.

Our local shop does not carry any 100% VG juices so I can't go buy some and test my theory. So I'm sitting here with my new Halo and nothing I can vape until I order some 100% VG. I hate to keep spending money -- what if even the 100% VG makes me cough to death? Is there anything else that might be the problem?

Blu is a sub-par e-cig. Consider upgrading to an EGO. You may have a sensitivity to PG, but depending on how severe your symptoms are it seems unlikely. I would try 100% VG and it will fix the problem due to the small throat hit. Either you have an allergy to PG, or you simply can't handle the throat hit, it happens. If you are sick with bronchitis or some other congestion, it will make you cough a LOT. Also be sure to draw the vapour into your mouth before you inhale. Your nicotine level can also contribute to the cough, consider downing it by a few mg's.

The best tip I can offer though, is to not inhale. If you draw the vapor into your mouth then exhale through your nose without inhaling (It may take some practice), you still get a large portion of your nicotine without dealing with the cough, I had to do that while I was sick with pneumonia. Be aware that it may be warm on your nasal passages and the flavor will slightly change.

Best of luck.

AndreaR, it *could* just be the nicotine base (or the flavoring brand) the vendor you got your juice from used. There's one vendor whose juice I can NOT vape - I start breaking out in a rash every time I try it. It's not the PG/VG ratio or the nic levels - I can get the same PG/VG ratio at the same nic level from another vendor and I don't have a problem. So, before you get too frustrated, can I suggest browsing the juice forum here and finding another juice vendor to experiment with?
